In need of Hibernation!
So not only yesterday did I get my tickets to see Tim and Faith but I also received my Rowan yarn to make the sweaters for the twins! YAY!
I was figuring well I ordered ten balls they will be coming in a box and I'll probably have to drive into town to the post office to get is cause it prob won't fit in the mail box but when I got home from work last night I found this neat little package with all ten balls wrapped up oh so pretty. So I got 10 balls of Rowan cotton Glace, 4 in pier, 4 in shoot and 2 in ecru. The pattern for the sweater is on the cover of adorable knits for tots *and talk about adorable, i'd been eyeing this book for a while at work and finally got it. I'm not making 2 identical sweaters, for a change I thought I would reverse the green and blue for the second twin. We'll see how it goes.
I started on Nanny's socks......... which are getting frogged right back to the ribbing because I messed something up and I think i'd just be better off to start over. They are from my Sensational Knitted socks book *man I love that book* and I got some almost periwinkle blu Opal for these. I didn't think she would appreciate multicoloured stripes :)
There are sooo many things I want to do tonight, start a sweater, frog and knit on my sock, add more pics to my gallery of FO's but all I really feel like doing is having a nap. I've been running ragged with closing 3 nights in a row this weekend and then in first thing this morning. It ends up being 8 days straight before I get a day off........... I'm ohhh so looking forward to friday. But tonight I think i'll nap, or try to nap, or maybe knit WHO KNOWS! Only time will tell.
Happy Pancake day!
For those of you that think I'm a total whack job I'm really not, it really is Pancake day! Today is Shrove Tuesday which is the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent :) Still with me?? So in my Mother Land we eat Pancakes, its a long tradition and a yummy one at that. The pancakes are made from scratch, on box mixes there :) Usually we put either golden syrup or sugar and lemon juice on them, your choice. Here's a link that tells you more about Pankcake day hehe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrove_Tuesday
Sad thing is I totally forgot until tonight that it was even Pancake day so we had chicken :( But I'm thinking tomorrow we can have Pancakes :)
Happy Pancake Day to all! I hope you enjoy them!!
Pancake day makes me think of IHOP yummmmmmmmmmmm IHOP!

MY OH MY!!!
March is Pink/Red so I've been trying to rack my brains to see if I even HAVE any pink or red yarn or what I could create that could be Pink/Red. The fact that my birthday is fastly approaching could have been the distraction that made me forget. Moose has been secret squirreling on the computer the last 2 nights about my birthda present. I ALWAYS figure out what he's getting me but this year I"m really not sure. There is an envelope with my name on it sitting on the table teasing me and I just REEEEEALLY want to know what the heck is in it! I thought maybe he was taking me to Bangor to eat at IHOP!!! because I ADOOOOOOOOOOORE IHOP and have been dreaming about it ever since me got back from Portland but I don't really think thats it. Then last night he was talking about the cost of Willie Nelson tickets so I figured he was on the boxoffice website buying tickets for that but I checked and there is nothing on there that I can see that he would take me to or that I'd want to see, other than good ole Willie but I doubt he'd been that dumb and blurt out about him if he was taking me there. HUMMMMMM HELP ME!!!! I NEED TO KNOW!!!
ENOUGH ABOUT THAT I NEED TO THINK ABOUT PROJECT SPECTRUM!!! AHHHHHHHHH
I'm in loooooooooooove......
Pattern: Started off as Four stitch ribbing patterns *double moss stitch* from Sensational Knitted Socks, turned out to be my own creation
Yarn: Lang Jawoll 83 superwash
Needles: dpns US size 1's
Cast on: Feb 8th 2006
Cast off:Feb 25th 2006
Notes: I love this yarn except for the fact that you couldn't see the double moss stitch through the variegation so they ended up being pretty plain. They look wrinkly around the ankles but they will fit mum perfectly!
I really love these socks on. The yarn is a lot softer than the Regia that I used. I find the Regia quite stiff and rough so I don't think I'll be using it again but I'd definitely use the Lang Jawoll, I'd love to keep these for myself but that's just not the cast. There will be plenty more socks where these came from, I'm really glad I gave sock knitting another try.
While checking out some blogs today I came across Kathy's newest post aka Grumperina and got sooooooo excited!!! I'm IN LOOVE WITH HER NEWEST PROJECT!!!
She's doing Norwegian stockings aka KNEE SOCKS!!! A little background to help you understand my excitement. We HAD to wear knee socks to school when i was young, the whole uniform thing which i loved! So after school I think i was sooo used to wearing them that now that's what I look for in the store. Knee socks all the way baby, warmest things ever! So I've been trying to find a pattern for some and low and behold there are some FAIR ISLE ones *which after seeing how quickly cara did her mittens made me want to give them a go* which I think will be just perfect for me! Check them out ! http://www.grumperina.com/knitblog/

Branching out!
Well blast! I don't know how I managed to get that picture in between the earring shots but anyway I've been thinking of branching out and trying Jewellery and yesterday at work I found the perfect findings for chandelier earrings I wanted to make so last night I took the plunge. Not to shabby for my first attempt me thinks. This could definately be a possiblity for project spectrum ideas! At work we are going to beable to take all the classes we offer for free on sunday nights so I think beading will be on my list, and maybe i'll develop some skill at this.
Now the picture thats in between is the meme thats going around of what you see from your front door. We had snow yesterday so this is what I saw this morning! Its a beautiful sunny day, not cold at all with a fluffy snow blanket covering the garden! :) The down side to the snow yesterday is that it was white out conditions on the highway and there ended up being a 15 car pile up not far from here. Moose got the call and was there for a quite a few hours. Vehicles were wrote off and lots of people injured. NOT GOOD! SLOW DOWN ON SNOW COVERED ROADS PEOPLE!
Knitting news! I'm still on that dang sock.... I'm thinking its never ending. I do hope to have it finished today though. Cricket Cove my LYS has a knit therapy session every wednesday from 1:30-3:30. This will be the first time I'll beable to go so I'm looking forward to a nice cup of tea from their cafe, knitting with OTHER PEOPLE *thats almost unheard of for me* (alas I wish I had knitter friends) and finishing up those socks! I'm also still waiting for my yarn so I can cast on for the twins sweaters and hopefully get them finished before they arrive!

On a knitting note, not a whole lot has been going on as the last too days I've felt like crap and had snot coming from my nose like a tap....... *probably more than you needed to know but anyway* I've turned the heel on the second sock and i'm on the gusset. Hope to have an FO for you by next post.

COMPLETION!
JAYWALKER KAL 2006
Well the Jaywalker KAL is finally complete! I had no problems completing my Jaywalkers in time. I think I had 2 weeks left in the KAL and I was done! WOOT WOOT!
The winner of the STR have been announced! Congrats to everyone that won and took part, it was great to see the different sock yarns and ways they were used. Incase you didn't get to see my BEAUTIFUL socks *grins* here they are in all their glory!
Pattern : Grumperina's Jaywalkers
Cast on: January 7th
Cast off :January 26th
Yarn:Patons Kroy colourway funky stripes
Needles: US size 0 double pointed
Notes: It only took 5 days to finish sock one, but I kind of slowed down during number 2. I think I will try the larger size next time, although I do have small feet it seemed to be quite tight around the top of my foot... unless it was just the yarn i was using!
One Down!
Well I have one down and started working on the second at work. Good thing too, mum and dad are coming down tomorrow night so I'll get her to try it on before I kitchener the toe to make sure it fits, I think I might have to make it a little longer, they fit me perfectly though :) I used 2x2 ribbing on the foot and then the top is plain, they may look a little odd but hey you won't beable to see the the top when you have jeans on so it will all work out.
I didn't get my yarn ordered in time for the Knitting Olympics so I had to step back and become a cheering committee for the rest. Everyone seems to be doing a great job! Cara's got some rocking mittens on the go, personalized and everything! She is making fair isle look soooo easy I think I might have to give it a go. I came across this website yesterday while looking at Grumperina's odessa reader knits. http://67.15.16.5/~ninabom/mt/archives/000032.html Linda has made me LOVE the odessa pattern after I saw her rendition and colour choice.........oooooooooohhhhhhh I think i'm gonna have to knit that!
Now if you'll refer to the first picture on my post, this was found INSIDE my skein of sock yarn, I have two skeins and found one in each......... I may just be being stupid but WHAT THE HECK is it for??? I'm assuming to sew it up??? I don't need to sew up socks.............. HELP! Stupid Alert! Someone help me!

oooooooooohhh sooooo cold!
WOWZERS!! From being above 0 to suddenly being -28 degrees is a shock to the system let me tell ya. Especially when you've been inside all day, not noticing the temperature and then have to go outside brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I had to go pick up my BIL at the airport, and let me tell you the cold wind was something else. I left with my green fleecey jacket on here, as it wasn't too bad, thinking i'd just be in and out................. well it was windy windy windy when I got there and stupid me didn't have any mittens on and I had to get gas................. Lesson learned :)
I did take the time to snap a picture of me wearing my IHS and hat before I left. I hate self pics but Moose was at work so I had no option.
On Knitting news I have cast on for my mum's socks. She had picked the double moss stitch pattern from my sensational knitted socks book but after getting a few inches done I noticed you couldn't see the pattern because of the variegation in the yarn so I frogged back to the ribbing and started plain, it seems to be working out much better. I'm using Jawool superwash #108 which is black and purple variegated. Well see how they turn out, maybe I'll try a different pattern on the foot.

Cabley Goodness!
Can you tell Ms. Sockies just NEEDED to be in the pictures?? I was getting ready to take the pictures and she hopped up and sat ready and waiting for her photo shoot. Here's my Irish Hiking scarf and part of the hat. The hat is finished now but I want to get proper pictures of them both when the ends are all sewn in. I learned from knitting these two projects that I loooooove cables, love knitting them, couldn't put them down I was that excited to have them finished!
