Moose's family came down last night and took us out for dinner....
and today.... today I get to go to work :(

Working till close on your birthday should be a big no no but what can ya do.

Nothing but cuteness coming at ya! Thats me and my bro *he will soooo kill me when he see this* I'm even sporting my mum's handknit superted sweater!!!

I know I know, where have a been all week right????
Well it was my second week of vacation and I've been enjoying it to the fullest. I've been knitting of course :)
I was working feverishly all week hoping to get a sweater I was working on finished in time for church this morning but by saturday afternoon I realized it just wasn't going to happen. I made the sleeves longer than the original pattern ending up needing to order another ball of yarn NUTS!! Oh well it will be done soon enough.
I know you're all shouting "Never mind the knitting what about Cuba??????"
Well Cuba was good, alot of mixed reviews and emotions but I definately wouldn't have changed going for the world, no matter how bad the food was *insert throwing up face here*
I don't know if I'll be able to get all of our vacation stories out in one post but we'll see how it goes.
First off I'm sure you're all aware now of my ability to vomit with pretty much any motion... :) Well guess what??? I DIDN'T PUKE!!!!! You don't know how awesome that is, I even ate food before and during the flights and still felt fine. My secret was a new medication recommended to me by the pharmacist, its called Bonamine. It did make me sleeping but I didn't care, it was a long flight home. So.... on to Cuba.
Cuba is a very poor country, and you're all saying yeah we know that but when I say poor I mean REALLY poor!!!
Don't get me wrong, everyone has food to eat and a place to live but thats it, all bare minimum. Some of the house were just tin walls and a tin roof propped up. It was absolutely awful the conditions these people were living in. Then there are all these people coming to the resorts, drinking their faces off and not moving their butts from the resorts. Unless you actually got off the resort you would have had NO idea of the poverty. Yes our tour operator said its a very poor country but to wasn't until we rented Moped's and went out on our own that we came across it all. 90% of our week there was spent touring the areas on our own and giving away the things we had brought for them. I have never seen anyone so grateful for a simple bar of soap. The things we take advantage for in this country is unbelievable.
On our last day there we rented a moped and searched for some people to unload the last of our gifts too. So we're out in the middle of no where driving down this *highway* (more like a normal road) and Moose says we probably should turn around, we don't want to run out of gas. Around we go and *i'm sure you know whats coming* yup we run out of gas..................... Couldn't happen to anyone else but us. Somehow though every bad thing that happens to us turns into a blessing. So there just so happens to be a "farm" of sorts across the road from where we were stranded. When i say farm I mean a run down house with a few goats and chickens outside. We go in and no say "No Gas!" We were well out of Varadero so the chance that someone speaks english is very minimal. One of the girls understood Gas and said ahhhh gasonlina. I will definately remember that word. It just so happens they had a car. Now this car was most likely something that had been passed down from generation to generation, a 1950's car. The guy ciphened out gas from his own car and gave it to us, not expecting anything in return. I can't get over the generosity of these people that have absolutely nothing to their name and yet they are willing to give whatever they have to complete strangers. If only the whole world worked like that, we wouldn't have the poverty that exists in these countries today. So before leaving we unloaded what we had left to give out. There were about 3 generations of the family there. One lady was sooo excited to get soap and deoderant that she was waving it at her family inside and smelling it.
We decided after our trip that we won't be going back to an all inclusive again. Moose can't sit still for two minutes so there definately has to be lots of things to do. The food wasn't too hot, we of course knew it wasn't going to be very good before we arrived and we did find something to eat everyday but a week of fries and pizza for lunch and dinner was just too much. The weirdest thing was there was NO MILK! Not one drop of pasturized milk on that island. The only thing we could find was powdered and condensed milk. How in the world can you live without milk?? Let me tell you I craved that stuff from the day I got there until we left.
Well I think I've babbled enough for today, i hope to have all my pics in a folder for you by the next post to browse through. In the meantime I leave you with one of my favourite moments of the trip.
That is the first time I've seen a real camel before. I just went over to ask the man if I could pet them and take a picture but before I knew it he had lifted me up onto its neck and gave Moose the camera to take a picture. Oh Miseur Camel you were oh so cute.

Blanket of Hope

Hi All! Just a quick post before I go to bed.
Rebekah has started a blanket project for Sonya's husband. They just found out he has Lymphoma, a form of cancer. Go on over to Rebekah's blog and read more about the project.
Its called Blanket of Hope and she is asking for support of fellow knitters to aid her in knitting a square or two.

Now I'm gonna be gone for a whole week, and i'm sure somewhere in that WHOLE WEEK you could all squeeze a little knitting in for a good cause. The squares *or shapes* I should say can be any size,shape or colour just as long as they come from the heart.
So please, take a few minutes next week and help us out!

3 more shifts, ohhhhh yeahhhh baby 3 more shifts and I'm outta there for 2 whole weeks!!!!!
I'm just a little excited. Its been a year and a half with no vacation so this is wellllllll overdue!

Lots has been going on here at CelticCastOn. Trying to finish up the bathroom before we leave, packing and putting together some packages for Cuban's. Add on top of that normal work, giving some kitty love and Phew! we definately need a vacation.
The bathroom is coming along, I have my doubts as to whether EVERYTHING will be finished before we leave. Moose has pretty much done everything in the bathroom by himself due to his shifts and days off. Usually I am the painter but when I came home from work last week he had it primed and painted so there goes my job. The rest really was plumbing, which I would be absolutely no help with. I did, however, get all the trim for the 4 rooms we will be redoing done, its alot of door casings and trim let me tell ya. Here's a shot of the shower installed.

On the knitting front everything is basically at a stand still. There's just no time to knit this week. The Tweedy Aran Cardi has been put in the WIP basket until we come back and not a stitch has been knit since last week.
I have however been getting some knitting ready for Cuba. The only knitting i'm taking is a sock project. I doubt I'll get any other knitting done during the week but the sock should be enough to fulfill my knitting craving.
A new toy arrived on Monday that i've been *not so patiently* awaiting. Its a walnut yarn swift handmade by the folks at Knitting Notions.

I first found out about these when Heidi had one on her blog and was receiving one from her fab hubby for her anniversary present. I've been saying for a swift for a while but hadn't found one that I was in LOVE with. I was set on getting an umbrella swift until I saw this swift and read the benefits of having a table top one.

1) Its dark walnut, I loooooove dark wood

2) It has many dowel holes on each arm for different size skeins to fit onto. Also great if your yarn shrinks a bit.

3) It takes seconds to put it together and take it apart. No need to worry about this big umbrella and where to store it.

4) It comes with a fabulous bag to keep all the parts together and store.

5) Its handfinished! They use tung oil and linseed oil and a layer of paste wax on top. Its soooo silky smooth, no need to worry about your yarn snagging.

I could go on! I Immediately ripped into the box when it can and gave it a spin. Its friggin fabulous!!! I kept saying LOOK MOOSE!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!! I LOVE IT!!

It was so quick, in a matter of minutes I had a freshly wound ball ready for a little trip to Cuba.

Thanks for all your suggestions on patterns. I love all that you have suggested but didn't think they would work well with the yarn I chose from my stash. Were Appletini is varigated I didn't want to do anything lacey or with alot of pattern for fear of not being able to see the pattern too well. I did find a pattern that I think will work with the yarn. Its Sarah's free pattern called Honey of a hurricane socks. I seems easy enough so here's hoping!!

Must go get ready for work *sigh* ohhhh i soo want to cast on for those!!

Winter wonderland

So I realized in my last post that I didn't tell you all where we are going.....
There will definately be alot of these there...
And I might also be able to pick up a few moves from this....
Thats right ya'll we're going to CUBA!!! I'm pretty excited! I've wanted to go to Cuba for a couple of years now and we are finally getting the chance to go. I can't wait to lay on that beach and not have to think about work or how cold it is.
Its actually nice out this morning, we got a big chunk of snow last night while I had a little nap by the fire :)
I was amazed when I went out to take this picture this morning how mild it was out. Now thats what i'm talking about. I could handle tons of snow if it was just mild out and not so frigid.

So Project Spectrum started yesterday and you'll remember me saying I have nothing in those colours to knit with and I didn't want to stray from my tweedy aran cardi. Well after yesterday's post it clicked and I remembered the sweater I had been DYING to make but didn't want to stop knitting the tweed. Well GUESS what colour the yarn is?????? It MUST be fate hehehe
Grey AND blue in the one yarn, how sweet is that. Now I didn't have the pattern book for the sweater, I did that on purpose so that I wouldn't start it before I had finished the current project but yesterday I went ahead and ordered it. Hopefully it will arrive before next weekend when we leave and I could cast on and take a sleeve with me. I also need to figure out what sock project I want to take with me. I don't want to do just a plain sock but I also don't want to have to look at a pattern every two seconds while i'm there. Any suggestions!

Sooo the mouse story...... yeah I heard the mouse in the wall again. Apparently Moose got a mouse, but not the RIGHT mouse, or maybe there were two of them. Who knows! So we'll have to see if we can locate the other one. Knowing my luck we'll come back and they will be all settled in the house, sprawled out on the couch infront of the fire or something!

Off to get some things done!

Sheet Rock City

Moose has been working up a storm on the soon to be bathroom downstairs. Sheetrock and crack filling is done, next will be sanding and then slapping some paint on there.
Moose plans on getting it done before we leave..... I don't know that it can be done but we will see. Where *you ask* has Sock been while all this has been going on???

* This sheetrock stuff's for the birds!!! I think its about time for my 20th nap of the day.*

So I was talking to Moose just after I got home from work tonight.

Moose: Sooo I was on your blog today!

Me : Where ya??

Moose: Yeah but I don't think I know how to work it right cause I could only get last weeks post to come up..... or was that your last post??

Moose: Geez what kind of blogger are you??? LAST WEEK???

Way to make me feel guilty :( I've been meaning to post for days but it just hasn't happened. So here's the post !

Speaking of Moose. He has this facination of buying things in bulk. Now I know you're probably saying yeah bulks good. Buy bulk cereal so you don't have to buy a teeny weeny box every two days but Moose's bulk purchases are jsut plain WEIRD. I come home the other day, Moose had picked up a few things, butter was something we needed but it wasn't the NORMAL container of butter NOOOOOOO it was a MASSIVE ,will take us a year to use it all tub of butter. He also picked up some dishwasher powder..... a mammoth PAIL of dishwasher powder and I'm not even going to go into the shampoo jug he brought home one day. He thinks its the greatest thing in the world and looks sooo smug when he finds a new bulk purchase. PLEASE tell me I'm not alone in my thoughts of CRAZINESS!!!!

For weeks now I've been telling Moose there was a mouse in the wall in the basement. He laughed and told me there can't be a mouse in the way cause its cement and there would be nowhere for him to get in. Fair enough but there was SOMETHING in that wall. Sock and I would be sitting at the computer and I'd hear it walking along behind the plastic vapour barrier. Even Sock heard it and continued to stare at the wall. All this happened of course while moose wasn't here. Of the course of the next couple of weeks, i'd hear the mouse in different places and on different walls. Everytime I heard it I'd let moose know I'd heard the mouse again, got laughed at and told there wasn't a mouse in the wall. By the weekend I was tired of telling him there was a mouse and just accepted it. Monday evening I called Moose before I got home from work and he said I caught the mouse in the wall today. My reply was YOU DID!!!! I TOOOOOLLLLLD YOU THERE WAS A MOUSE! WHO WAS RIGHT???? WHO WAS RIGHT????? To which he replied You and Sock were right. lol I love it when i'm right. Mr. Mouse is now in heaven, bless his little heart, I told him he should have taken him over to the pit and let him off there but it was too late by the time I talked to him.

I'm loving having my sunday's off. The past few weekends I've been able to go to church, hang with moose and get lots of knitting done. I finished sleeve two sunday and started one of the front's this week. As you can see not much has progressed this week so far but I'm hoping to get some good progress on the weeekend.
Project Spectrum starts tomorrow. I didn't sign up for this one. Last PS I always ended up not having the colours and not being finished projects before the next colour starts so this time if I happen to be knitting the same colour as that month,great, if not then i'll continue with what I"m doing. I have to keep it down to the two projects remember!

knitting bags and mail!

In two weeks and four days I'm going on VACATION!!!!!!
I'm finally using my vacation time and going away. I'd stand on my head for two weeks straight if it mean't getting a break from work.
Soooo in honour of going away, it was of course time to find a knitting /carry on bag. I wanted a bag that was big enough to carry a knitting project and my essentials but not too big that it was heavy and hard to lug around. I also wanted something in the way of a messenger bag to take with me when we are out, handbags while on vacation just aren't practical for me. I need something I can throw over my head and forget about. I had looked at the messenger knitting bags on Scout's Swag but i really don't have a hundred bucks to shell out on a bag right now.*more on that later* So after a little search in the mall and one patient...... or not so patient Moose I found the bag I was looking for. Its green, its the perfect size and the strap is easily converted to a messenger style or hand bag and did I mention its GREEN????? What could be better???

I also found a cute little notions holder in the clearance section at zellers. Its actually a five star pencil case but the cool thing about it is that it stands upright. All your notions, pens, highlighters, stitch markers fit inside, the top half zips open and it still stands upright beside you on the table while you work. And the best part ITS GREEN!

My Anniversary present arrived today! If you'll remember I was getting Moose sock blockers.
Here they are in all their glory! I of course had to pop a sock on for show. These may be the ladies small but when I put the sock on the block it made my sock look huge!

The first sleeve is complete! Now I get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN! *throws confetti*

We are back at the reno's again on the house. We have some flooring, painting, trim in two rooms, and transforming another room into a bathroom before we can put it up for sale. Its going to be alot of work in the next month or two but it will all be worth it :)

I saw the cutest picture on a blog today, wanna see??? CUTENESS
Thats Gangles, one of Kristi's twin boys! If you'll remember there was a virtual baby shower for Kristi and tons of people knit an item or two for the wee baabies. So i'm checking bloglines and click on Kristi's blog and BAM! There is the cutest little baby wearing a sweater I knit for him. That picture says it all! Its soo exciting to see your own handknits on someone else. I had the biggest grin the whole time I was reading her post. Thank you Kristi for taking the time to photograph and post gangles! You made my day!

So today at work I had a 2 x 4 entire grid filled with product fall on my thumb at work. Talk about huuuuuurt! Thankfully it wasn't broken, just have a pulsing thumb and a big purple blood blister right by my cuticle. It definately hurt when it dropped but all I could think about was, if its broken I hope they only cast my thumb that way I can still knit, cause if they cast my hand I'll go CRAZY!

Saturday I cast on for my first sleeve of the tweedy aran cardi. Its k1 p1 with a cable going up the middle. I must admit I like k1 p1, but this sleeve just doesn't want to end. I'm not even up to the arm pit and i'm banging my head against the wall. I keep thinking in the back of my mind, "And there's still ANOTHER ONE to go" I'm going to work on it tonight and try to get some more done tomorrow so I'm crossing my fingers that I will have it done in the next few days.

We've been having some fun with Sock :) Now I read blogs with cats wearing preemie hats, and bibs and socks and you name it they're wearing it. Not this cat, if you even THINK about putting something on her she's gone. Last night however Moose slipped a chocolate wrapper on her head without her knowing *hehe*
*Hi Mum!! Why do you have the camera out, i'm just sitting on dad??*

She caught on to what we were up to when we put another one up there.

Don't make me go outside plllllllease!!!
Thats what I was saying yesterday morning before work! -38 with the wind chill in definately a stay at home and knit day!!! But noooooo work it was. I guess I can be at least happy that we have snow. It started on our way to St.Hubert on monday and by the time we were coming home it was inches deep everywhere. The snow on the railing will give you some indication.

St. Hubert was fabulous! We ate till we were full, and I ate everything on all three plates (oink oink) I may be little but I sure know how to eat my food :)
On the way to St.Hubert I took along my finished Dulaan knits to sew up. I'd been procrastinating doing it so the drive was the perfect time. Here's on of the hats I made. I have a total of 7 knits now that are complete and I still have a few more still to do.

For our anniversary we decided to just do dinner and a small give, seeing hows its so close to christmas and then there is my birthday next month too :) So THIS is what is winging its way to me as we speak! Yippee Moose blockers from my Moose :)

Speaking of Moose, I always tease him when Sockies on him that he LOVES her. His reply is always I LIKE her but I don't LOVE her. Well I have photographic evidence and Sock will agree that Moose is definatley smitten with old Sock.
Awwww Bonding time :) Whenever or where ever Moose sits she runs to jump up and sit on him awww they're best buds!

Two Years!!

Two years ago today I said I DO to this handsome Devil!!!
These two years and been the best two years in my life..... well those and the previous 5 with Moose :) Its hard to believe two years have come and gone already but I wouldn't have changed a minute!

We are off to St. Hubert some time today to feed our faces and celebrate!

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it??? We actually are getting snow?? I flicked to the weather channel last night and tomy surprise discovered we were in a winter storm warning! YAY!!!!
We are supposed to get 5-15 cm of snow and then its supposed to turn to rain.... we shall see how much we actually DO get. Here's a picture I just took a few moments ago. SNOW!!!! MORE SNOW!!!
EDITED TO ADD: Its all gone, every last drop washed away by the rain :( COME BACK SNOW!
As for the Tweedy Aran Cardi, I'm still chugging. Yesterday I thought I'd have the back done and be started on the front..... that didn't happen so I figured I'd get it done this morning...... that didn't happen. This back is taking FOREVER!!!! I've got about 2 more inches to go before I can bind off. At this rate its gonna take forever!!! MUST STICK TO ONE PROJECT!!!

I just made these super cute multi coloured sheep for a blogless Sherry who's a new knitter. She liked all the colours so thought why the heck not make one of each. I think they are pretty darn cute, don't you think?? Sherry is a brand new knitter and only on her third project but i'm excited to send these off to her in hopes of making her knitting life that little bit easier! Enjoy Sherry!
Just the other day I order some Noro Kochoran from Busy Bee. They have a great sale on right now that you should definately check out. Cheaps on the net for Kochoran. She even gave me free shipping to Canada! Can't get any better than that!!! Lolly has recently knit THIS sweater. As soon as I saw the pattern for it I fell in looooooove. When I found the great deal at Busy Bee I had to order the yarn and make it. So Kochoran number 10 is on its way to me. I must contain myself from starting it though until I finish my Tweedy Aran Cardi! Oohhhh but the temptation! I better get a crack on with that cardi!

If you love felted bags you've gotta check out Heidi's blog. Heidi and I go to the same church. I suspected her as a knitting because I had noticed her carrying felted bags before. Just before christmas I found her blog and was delighted to find she was indeed a knitter, and not just any old knitter. Heidi taught herslef to knit only a few months ago and already she's making fantastic felted bags and selling them on her etsy shop. Check it out. Not only does she knit and felt them but she them embroiders them with some fantastic designs! Talented I tell ya!

We're off four wheeling today! I hope I have time later to get some knitting in.

Back to the Tweed.

And we're off to the races on our 2007 knits! I'd put aside my tweed because I had become seriously frustrated before christmas but with three months left in the KAL and nothing to show I figured I'd better buck up and start knitting. The pattern wasn't matching up with the previous rows when I knit before and even with ripping and redoing I still couldn't get it right. Then the thought came into my head that I just need to use stitch markers DUH! I only make and sell the things :) Anyway I'm on the right track now and I'm boogin right along. There are 8 different patterns in one row so its slow going but I'm almost finished two diamond and before christmas I didn't have a diamond even started! The picture is of the back piece, I'm about 9 inchs along and if I didn't have to go to dang work tonight it might be another 9 :)

If you have something tweedy in your stash you'd like to use up, come on over and join the KAL, we'd love to see what your knitting.

There are several different projects I would like to dig into but I'm going to force myself to be a good knitter this year and only have two things on the needles at once. One being a sock and the other my main project. I will not start anything else until I get the main project done or finish the sock and then I can start another.
As you can see None of my WIP's that I was SUPPOSEDLY going to finish up before christmas got done so they will stay right where they are for the time being. I'm thinking about knitting the main project and then go back to an ufo and finish that before I start a new one but we'll see. There are sooo many beautiful patterns perking up here there and everywhere its going to be hard to just be knitting one at once.

I'm planning on making some larger items for myself this year. The largest thing I did last year was my OSW. I think a few sweaters are long overdue in the Celtic household.

Destashing!

I've cleaned up all my stash, organzied, rebagged and removed some things I just won't ever use.
So to start off the new year I'm offering up my old stash to my fellow readers. I have patterns and yarn in my stash that I just won't ever use. If you see something you like make me an offer, I'm up for trades too. Let me know if something peaks your interest and we can work something out!

2006 in Review

Carole had asked what our favourite knits in 2006 were and what we knit so here it is!

The List

*6 pairs of complete socks
*one hat
*6 scarves
*6 discloths
*1 one skein wonder
*4 baby sweaters
*1 gaiter
*1 pair of fetching
* one tank that was complete and then had to be ripped

Thats 27 items in total this year. Not too bad! I'm happy with the amount of socks I have made but I'm going to lets say doubt that in 2007 :)
I also want to make more sweaters for myself.

So my favourite knits in 2006 are:

The two little star sweaters I made for the twins. They were sooo cute I still wish I'd kept them. I can definately see me making another one if there is an addition to this family in the future.
My favourite knit for myself was my OSW. While I haven't really gotten much use out of it yet, I can't wait to wear it out this summer :)
I have lots of goals I want to accomplish knitting wise in 2007 so keep your eyes peeled for lots of knitting in 2007.

Well Christmas is as far away as ever for another year. Company is gone, Moose is off to work and its just me and Sock once again. A knit night by the fire is in order while watching the first season DVD's of 90210!!! Good job Moosey!!!

IIEEE IEEEE IEEE!!! What a week! I've been missing blogland over the last week or so but i'm sooo glad to be back. My computer corner was taken over by a hard working Moose and I had no internet all week!!! I didn't know what to do with myself. Not that I had time to go online except for maybe in the morning's while i'm drinking my tea and I definatley missed that. Then I went to write a post yesterday and the computer died on me......what is that all about?????
Finally I'm here and ohhh soooo happpy!
Work has been CRAZY!!!! I have two shifts left until I get a few off for christmas and I'm ooohhh sooo glad. Working seven days straight during crazy time is NOT what I call fun.
The basement i'm glad to say is 98% done! There are parts of a few walls left to paint, the floor is complete and the woodwork painted and trim on! I'll be soooo glad when its done and the basement can get back to normal.
What little time I have had to knit *ie: in the truck while Moose drives, or right before I go to bed* has been spent on Dulaan knitting. So I missed the Knit Unto Others KAL, everything was jsut CRAZY with work and the house turned upside down that I didn't even attempt it but this past week has been declared knit unto others week and most likely over the holidays as well. It seems everytime I sit down to knit by the time I get my charts and patterns and needles and yarn its time to put it away again so I opted for some very simple back to basics knits for Dulaan. Something that will keep my hands busy, and enjoy the tention relief knitting gives me and not have me frustrated and wanting to pull my hair out. This type of knitting will continue over the holidays me thinks. I want to beable to spend time with my family and not have to worry about patterns and counting.
I present my first FO fo Dulaan.

The Gaiter *cue jaws music* I whipped this puppy up on our last christmas shopping trip to moncton. A gaiter is basically a neck warmer that can also be pulled up over your face to sheild out the cold. Its made out of Bernat Solo a steal of a deal at work for $2. I doubt the giftee of this knit will mind that it is acrylic. Its a bulky yarn, and will give much warm to those who need it.
I made it long enough too that it can go over your head like a balaclava. ahhhhh the balaclava days, I remember having a white one with pink fair isle around the edges. Those were the days :) I have two other dulaan projects done, one which really needs blocking and one that I just cast off the needles. I hope to cast on another knit this afternoon, after my attempt at putting the christmas tree lights on by myself.
It was soooo nice this morning to SIT and knit for a good hour. I just want to go back to the couch now, wrap myself in a big blanket and knit some more but I do need to get some things done before the weekend. We have company coming for christmas. :)

Sunday at work we had one of our Bob Ross classes going on at work. It wasn't your typical landscape painting but a super cute baby seal. Everyone had been admiring the sample in the store for weeks but only two signed up for the class. I had been tempted to take the class but with my lack of painting skills and also having to work I didn't get to.
I asked the instructor if I could buy the sample painting before the end of the class,that seal pup was just so cute I could take him home and scratch his little chin all day. So told me that she was taking it back to an art show in NS but if I wanted to pay for the canvas of the seal pup she was painting with the class I could have that one.
.......JUST THE CANVAS????? ARE YOU SERIOUS?????
Of course I jumped at the chance and after thanking her over and over that little baby seal came home to live with ME!

Isn't he gorgeous???? Moose doesn't think Sockies will like the idea of a seal pup joining the clan but I think she'll get used to him :)

IT'S AN FO!!!!

In a whole two weeks I managed to knit the second half of a sock............. and thats it. But Hey it is an FO and something crossed off my list.
This is Lorna's Laces that I got in Portland last year. I can't say that I'm a big fan of the pooling that seems to happen with Lorna's. I'd much prefer some CLAUDIA'S :) Don't know that I'll buy this sock yarn again, unless I see a colourway that I looooove. The socks were knit with US 1's in the pattern Gentlemen's shooting sock from Nancy Bush's knitting vinatage socks.

You can see underneath my feet the new flooring in the basement. Moose has got a good start on it and hoepfully will have a good chunk more done when I get home from work tonight.
MUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!! WHAT IS ALL THAT BANGING??????? YOU KNOW HOW MUCH A HATE NOISE!!!!! THINK I'LL STAY HERE TILL ITS OVER!!!!!
The first snow of the season is over. Its still all here, after we had some freezing rain last night. I was gazing out the window this morning at the snow and ice on the trees, its sooo beautiful, THAT's what I love about snow, now if the coldness would leave it would be a perfect day!

Look alot like Christmas!!!!
I can't believe its December and christmas is only a week or two away. Until this morning it totally didn't feel like it.
Although we had our work christmas party already, and a pot luck in which I make a yummy supply of christmas rice krispie squares...

it still really doesn't feel like christmas time. Maybe its because my mind was a little preoccupied in wanting my Moose home. Did I mention he's home *insert massive grin from ear to ear* saturday night he arrived home, and although I was working that night he stopped in on the way home to see me. Boy am I glad he's home. After work that night I arrived home to find, my nicely tidied basement looking like THIS!!
ok ok so i knew we were putting down new flooring because I lugged it all in the house while Moose was gone. But I certainly wasn't expecting to come home a few hours later to find the carpet completely ripped up. Don't get me wrong i'm not complaining! That pink carpet was BEYOND nasty! We do however had a slight problem. See all that stuff on the floor that looks like snow???? That would be years old underlay thats stuck to the cement......... We went to Kent yesterday and they are completely out of the stuff that helps to lift it so it looks like we will be shovling it off, bit by bit, very tedieous work. Don't go telling me well it looks like you've got alot of it off already because thats only PART of the basement. I'm standing in the middle of the main part, then there is more to the right. We'll see what it looks like when I get home from work.
Now I did say it was beginning to look alot like christmas...... well this might be why!!

I woke up to this, this morning. It was a total shock, I was heading to the bathroom, looked up and did a double take. SNOWWWWW!!! I know I won't be saying this in a month or two but right now I'm happy. I was starting to wonder, all these blogs I've been reading with snow in hot places had me wondering if we were ever getting any. I didn't know if I should be jealous or glad. Now I can say its beginning to look alot like christmas... for now:)

I have been knitting, and honestly I think Moose coming home made me knit faster, for whatever reason, I am back in action. I have to bind of the toe of my sock today at work and I'll have a finished pair to report later on. Whooooppppeeee!

This past week I've recieved a few things that have cheered me up!
One I recieved a package from Kelli aka Knitter Bunny. She had a contest for her birthday and her beautiful dog Beau picked ME! She sent me some absolutely AWESOME sock yarn.

Well while Sockies is getting ready to show you the goods I also decided to get my hair cut.
I've been toying with the idea of bangs for YEARS now and have never bit the bullet and gone ahead with it. Well Friday night, I bit the bullet!!

What do you think??? Most people at work have said they prefer me with them so we'll have to wait and see what Moosey thinks. I did send him a picture but he says he has to see it in person.

*sniff sniff* ahhhh YES this is the one mum, cause it smells like BUNNIES!!!! This funky mailer was leaning up against my door when I got home from a close shift. Fab thing to come home to. So Kelli sent me 2 skeins 550 yards each of Fearless Fiber 100% superwash merino sock yarn in colourways Mermaid and Marakesh! I'd never heard of this yarn before but ohhhhh I can't wait to knit with it. YUMMMY! Now the ball in the far right is two skeins of Mohair send by Sarah from Knit for the Dutchians . My name was randomly drawn for a prize from all the knitters. It was sooo funny when I opened the package the mohair was in a ziplock bag and when I took it out it looked like mini beret's, flat as pancakes. I tried to get Sock to model a beret for you but she was having none of it. The mohair was quickly taken away before she could attack it. No idea's what I'm going to use it for yet but it will join the stash and wait until it is called.

I went christmas shopping on the weekend and got a good bit finished and wrapped. I also have a surprise for Moose when he comes back! Our tv in the basement died before he left but I found a great deal on a new one this weekend. Its all set up and waiting his arrival :)

The knitting front as severely been lacking. I'm about to turn the heel on my sock, but that is all I have accomplished during these two weeks. I'd like to tackle my tweed cardi today but when I came down the stairs I realised what a disaster the house is in so if I have time after tidying today I may start on it.

* humph I want my daddy!!! I'm not speaking to you till he comes home*

Sock and I have been missing Moose alot. Its just not the same around here. There has been very minimal knitting going on. I ripped back my second sock to just before the leg shaping because I couldn't remember where I was in the pattern *DOH* and i'm about half way up the leg. Other than that I haven't touched any other project. I just don't FEEL like knitting. I don't really feel like doing anything. My friend at work and I are on total opposites all this week so I really am all by myself. She works when I'm off and I work when she's off, so looks like its just me and the Sock in it for the long haul. I think Sock is totally punking me off too, all she's done in lie upstairs as if she's ignoring me. Frankly I think she's ticked that Moose isn't around for her to lie on. If you could hear the conversations he has with her lol I'll be sitting at the computer and I'll hear "GEEZ Woman, will you give me some space!!" That would be the comment made as Sock realizes he's sitting down and she jumps up to sit on him once again eheheh Honestly they are soooo funny together.

My fetching's have been done, for quite some time, but since Sock can't hold the camera up to take the pics you'll have to wait till Moose returns to see the final pics.

I got some new charms in yesterday and I'm still awaiting more so I'll be posting new markers in a day or two.

I hauled out my garland for around the deck yesterday and attempted to staple it on...... but of course the staples just don't want to stay in. My only solution was to buy some floral wire at work and wire it on. Anyone else have any brain waves??? Sock loves to chew on the garland....... can't wait to put it on the bannister to the basement. She'll be sitting on the stairs all day just chewing on it. She jumped every time I said her name last night to get her to stop chewing it. She'll have it ripped to shreds in no time I'm sure.

This morning when I sat down with my tea and pop tarts to read my blogs I didn't have anything to blog about...... as is the story of my life. I'm very quiet in person and am quite content to have silence all day. It annoys me that Moose has to have the radio on when he's home all the time, he even leaves it on for Sockies when he goes out............. *says she asks him to leave it on for her(rolls eyes)* Me I'd just rather have the silence. Weird I may be but thats just my preference. So when Moose informed me he was going on a guys vacation without me *hangs head* without me???? But we haven't been appart for more than a 12 hour shift in the almost 2 years we've been married and you're telling me your leaving me for 2 weeks??????
I get to stay home and go to work *throws confetti* and meanwhile you'll be sunning yourself on some beach somewhere..... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
Until this morning I was less than thrilled to be home by myself for 2 weeks but reading Margene's blog this morning got me in a knitting mindset and I think I'm ready to get things done. On Margene's post this morning she talked about finishing up projects that are on the needles and starting a new project fresh on New Years Day. Well heck that sounds great to me, but can I really do it???
What on earth am I talking about??? I've got two whole weeks with no husband and nothing to do, heck i should be able to do it. But finishing my projects is not the only thing I plan to get done. I want to secretly finish the painting of the basement that was started oh so long ago for when Moose gets back as well as finish all my christmas shopping. Think I can do it???? We're gonna go for it and see what I can accomplish.
So for WIP's that are in my basket at the moment are:

1. Second Socktoberfest sock- currently I am on the leg decreases
2. Butterfly - ohh poor butterfly is still on the border from Amazing Lace
3. Tweedy Aran Cardi - I frogged that thing 3 times yesterday and I'm still at the same spot.
4. Potomaus socks - I don't know if these will get finished or not but I'd like figure out what I did wrong and finish those dang socks.
5. Ruby - the pink tank I made that was waaaay too small. Plan to make a larger size

Think thats if for the time being, now if it wasn't for work I could start rocking this list now!

Now on to stitch markers. I've been keeping busy with custom orders. I have about 10 at the moment that I'm just waiting for the product to arrive so I can get them made and out to everyone. I've put together a page where I will have pics of all the stitch markers I make and if I have any available or not. I don't have it all set up yet but the page is here
These are some new markers I've been making but don't have on the page yet.

The colours are hard to capture but the far left are purple and the 4 right are black. These circles can be accented with any of the fiber optic beads I carry *with new colours on the way*

Here's an example of a green one complete. The green is much better than this in person, I just can't seem to get a good picture of it.

Now you're probably all thinking I thought she said she didn't like flowers???? And I don't but that doesn't mean I don't see the beauty in them. How each petal is delicately made and how they grow and bloom into fantastic colour. But flowers...... they just aren't my thing. You will not see a flower in my house, save maybe an orchid, they haveno smell, pretty much grows on its own, plain and simple. I don't like the smell of flowers, ESPECIALLY easter lillies *barf* boy do they ever smell awful. But I'm not going to get into all the negatives, flowers just aren't for me.

Well in our cake decorating class when she told us we were going to be learning how to make a rose I thought fabulous...... I looooooooooooooooooooove flowers...................... not. But I did want to learn how to make them on a cake so that if there was someone who did like them in need of a cake I could do it without a second thought.

The rose she tells us is the hardest flower in the course to learn...... right right thats why they put it in course ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *shakes head*
We had been learning the rose step by step each week, first the base, then the base and the middle petal but the third night was when we added all the other petals to make it complete.
Well that went a little south for me. I had been working all day before the class so had my icing in the fridge at work, so when i brought it out it was very stiff and hard to work with. Everyone else that night was just banging off roses, while I was just trying to get my icing to squeeze out without my hands shaking.
I left that night being the only one that couldn't make a rose and was quite frustrated. I had the whole weekend before the last class where we had to bring 6 premade roses to decorate our cake with so I figured I could work on it then.
Well you know how weekends are. I ended up only having half an hour to get making this rose down pat and make 6 of them. I left my icing out on the counter that morning so that my hands wouldn't be shaking like a leaf trying to squeeze icing out.
I sat down and off I went.

I practiced and practiced, saving all the roses so that I could see my progress and actually SEE that I was doing better with each one. Once I got the hand motion for the petals right they started to become better.
Add to that the turning on the nail head and you've got ROSE ACTION!
Notice the picture above, the small rose on the bottom was one of my first roses, and the one closest to the pencil was one of my last. CHA CHING!!!!

We had rose action. And although I knew I could have perfected each and every one of them if I had more time to practice I took my 6 best and let them harden.

The night of the class I was taking them out of the oven, *note* if you set them on a tray in your oven with the light on for a few days it will harden them :) and Moose looked at them and said "WOW Donk, those are really good!" *insert wide grin* For Moose to notice and comment made the night. But it got better. After the class was over, and we had our cakes decorated i was talking to the instructor saying how horrible I did the first night we tried to make them and that I was the only one who couldn't do it. Her reply was, and yours turned out to be the nicest of the bunch!

*addtional note* I know my cake is all different colours and nothing matches but i didn't want to make new icing and have all the previous stuff go to waste so I used up what I had. After all its all about the Process..... right Margene??

Kitties Kitties Kitties!

Chappysmom is having a contest. Show her your november calendar page and you could win a yarny prize! Well Chappysmom, over here at Celtic land its all about the kitties. I have 3 calendars and all three have furry little faces on them.
First we have the desk calander. A kitty for everyday of the year!!
The second is the calander in my kitchen, all sleeping kitties awwww I love this one!
And number 3 is a special gift from my mum's bf. She sent it from Ireland and the name of the calendar is Kelly's Cats puuuurfect! They are paintings of all Kelly's cats too cute!
Now I have been knitting, somewhat slowly but it has been happening. The only time I've had to knit at the minute is on breaks at work, or what breaks I get... *grumble*
I picked up a ball of Louisa Harding at the LYS last week and immediately cast on for a pair of fetchings. The Louisa Harding has angora in it and is incredibly soft, they won't be the warmest things in the world but they will be DANG cute :)
Because I have small little hands and I wanted them to be snug I used US3's. The pattern calls for US4 but I didn't have any, and 5's were way to big. One down one to go.

I actually have a 3 day weekend coming up........ that is unheard of for me so I hope to enjoy somje time with Moose, can you believe we have all three days off together????? CRAZY! Hopefully I'll get some knitting in too!

This is one of Moose's christmas presents! A girl I work with does amazing things with clay. She took a shadow box that you would put a baseball in and made a mini version of all the framing staff. It is the cutest thing ever with their little aprons on :)
Sooooo I asked if she would be willing to make me a mini Moose and fire truck for Moose for christmas. She said yes right away and has been working on this for a while now. I sent her a picture of a ladder truck, because if you are a Fire Fighters wife, all you hear about is how awesome "ladder" trucks are. This is what she came up with.

Awww little Mini Moose, it even has his number on his helmet! Its sooo incredibly small I don't know how she ever did it.

The truck is soo detailed. She copied all the little dials and nobs etc on the side of that truck its amazing.
I think Moose will be dead impressed at how well she did that truck!

So I've been a busy bee the last few days! With knitting, charm making, posting, shoppping.
I had a request for some ferret stitch markers, so a hunting I went and found these little cuties!
This set is a custom order for the Crafty Weasel she has 5 ferrets *how perfect is that* and 5 stitch markers in the set. I hope she likes them.

Now I said I was also busy shopping...... Christmas shopping that is. It is time to start :) I've got two presents bought and wrapped for mister Moose and hid where he hopefully can't find them. I loooove buying for other people, its soo much fun!

This has also been knitting, weaving and sewing on buttons at top speeds. The postal date for the dutchians baby shower is today, and *phew* I got these last two sweaters complete with buttons done last night around 8 o'clock. Talk about cutting it close. They are off to the post office today.
One of the reasons I was cutting it sooo close with the baby sweaters was that I kind *looks around innocently* might have maybe cast on for my tweedy aran cardi when I should have been sewing up sweater........ WHAAAAAAAAT?????? I couldn't help it, its was giving me the stare down and I just couldn't TAKE it anymore!!!! I'm so glad I did though. The ribbing on this cardi is called a twisted rib, its a very interesting and fun pattern to knit. Once I started it I just couldn't stop. I have just begun the cable pattern wooo hooooo and by the sounds of it I'll get a little bit more done on sunday :) Roll on the weekend!

Yes yes I know I know, its been a week since my last post. Well seven days is how long i'm been working without a day off. We've had inventory this weekend and prep for that and a big wig come to visit not long before inventory so its been stress city at work. BUT today is the weekend and I have the WHOLE THING OFF!!! WOOOO HOOOO! I plan on doing alot of knitty things in the next two days so hopefully I'll have some post for ya.
Now if you'll remember I'm in the cake decorating class??? Well Tuesday was our second cake night and we were learning flowers.
OH MY WORD! The rose is the most annoying flower to learn, I still haven't got it down pat but I'm going to have to over the weekend as i need 6 of them for Monday's cake. The rest of the flowers were soooo easy to learn but when you have to put them sideways on a cake its a whole different ball game. Needless to say I need lots of practice this weekend. My cake however turned out like CRAAAAAAAAP! My icing had been in the fridge all day since I was at work and was hard and annoying to work with. I'll have to leave it out in the morning before I go to work next time. Glad the cake wasn't for anything specfic, Moose had already claimed it before it was made to take to the guys at work.

Don't laugh at my cake now! We all have to start somewhere.

* Ummmm mum I'm going into a diabetic coma! I think I need sugar, quick grab the first sugar substance you see, like ummmm, THAT CAKE!*

Cake and goodies

My knitters tea swap package arrived yesterday and I actually contained myself long enough to get it home still sealed before opening it. My Spoiler was Amy from iheartknitting. I got some yummy walkers shortbread cookies, I don't know how Amy new, I think she might be psychic but Walker's is a favourite in our family and they are MINE ALLL MINE!!!!!! MUHAHAHAH! I haven't introduced Moose to the walker goodies yet and I think I might keep him in the dark for a while longer while I eat my biscuits :)
I also got TREKKING!!!!!!! That was what blurted out of my mouth when I opened it. AWWWW me thinks Amy did some good snooping on my blog and found out I've been wanting some :))
There were also some yummy smelling soaps, a tea ball *which I don't have but wanted one*, comforting tea made with Licorice root and peppermint yummmmmm and A SOCK BAG!!!!!!!!!!! A fantastic bright stripey sock bag that I absolutely Lovvvvvvvvvve!
Thank you soooo much Amy, I love everything and can't wait to have a big cup of tea and some walker biscuits by the fire :)

Also if you remember last week I told you all I had started the wilton cake decorating class at work. Well tuesday night was the first decorating night. We had to have a cake already iced, and extra icing coloured and ready for our cakes as well as icing for practicing with.

Well I kinda didn't have time to make the cake and icing until I got home from work on monday night @ 10 , the class was the next day and I worked at 9 until the class started. Can you smell disaster????

Well I was up until 2 in the morning making that dang icing! i ran out of icing sugar and had to run to the Irving at 1 in the morning. I needed two bags and they only had one so i had to do some more running around to find another store that was open this late. Finally I found one and they had just ONE bag left. SAVED!!! So off I go home to make the rest of my icing and get some sleep. I get home and start making the icing and what do I find??? Only TWO bags of icing Moose had picked up for me that day. DANG IT!!! I thought I had already used it! Anyway apart from little sleep I did get to the class and had a great time. I think I am really going to like this cake decorating. Here is my first creation!

THE RAINBOW CAKE

I think i did pretty darn good for my first time. The rainbow itself was a little on the crooked side but other than that I'm pleased. Next weeks cake is one with flowers, and while I don't like flowers myself I'm excited to learn how to make them with icing!

First off let me just show you what my husband has been wearing to work for well over a month now. Yes that is black electrical tape, and its holding the sole of his work boot on.
I finally said enough is enough and that he HAD to go buy a pair of boots yesterday and good ones. Moose is the type of person that if he can jimmy it and get away with it then all the better but electrical tape????? *shakes head* Needless to say he has a new pair of boots on at work tonight, thank goodness!
I've joined two alongs recently. The first is Dulaan, 10,000 or bust. Here's the deal. This knit along is for the Dulaan project, which i'm sure you're all aware of. If not the project knits hats, scarves,gaitors, mittens etc to keep the children of Mongolia warm in the winter due to the extreme temps. So this year 10,000 or bust is that each person pledges to knit five items for the project and their goal is to have 10,000 items for the kids. Sign ups end this month but you have until june 2007 to knit 5 things, how hard is that??? You'll have all winter to knit a few hats and scarves and you'll be saving this children from the extremes of winter. Go sign up!!!

The other along is Warm up the Dutchians. Kristi of Red Dog Knits is preggers with not one, not two but 3 wee babbies! Thats right triplets are on the way. In an effort to help Kristi keep those babies warm and clothed, Kelli and Sarah are hosting a virtual baby shower for her. You knit an item or items for the Dutchians and your name gets put into the pot for some great prizes.

OH OH Pick me Pick me :) Lately I have done a couple of swaps with some people that I'd been lurking on their blogs but not always posting.

Trek of course has some fabulous sock bags and when I saw the sock monkies bag I had to have one. We agreed on a trade for a University T from NB. I've had my bag for quite some time now, comes with me to work everyday and usually accompanies me in the truck too. Its perfect, I love it, Thanks Trek.

Now the second is Mr. Daniels, I think we all know Dave from Cabin Cove. He has some fabulous yarn but he is also a Moose lover just like me :) Not my moose of course but anything Moose. We got the cutest Moose ornaments in at work, of course I grabbed them but they also made me think of Dave. I told Dave about them but he doesn't have a Michaels near him so we agreed on a swap. I swapped for a fantastic skein of Dave's sock yarn yippppeee. How awesome are those colours! The only question now is what to make???

Turkey Day!

Moose had to work on Thanksgiving so I headed down to Mum and Dad's for the day and to have dinner..... yummmm turkey!
My mum makes the best Bisto Gravy and Roasters in the WORLD! Irish Mama, you like the ole bisto and roasters????
It took longer than usual to drive down because I kept pulling over and taking pictures of the scenery. It was just awesome! I'd go over a hill and all of a sudden i'd shout WOW! The colours were soooo intense and ran for miles! I love CANADA!
Mum and Dad's house was no exception to the beautiful colours. The tree below is usually just a green colour but this year has turned an awesome orange! They also have 3 big trees in the back garden that turn every colour before the leaves fall off. I wish I could up root them and put them in my yarn, they are sooo great to look at. It seems like every day they are that shade brighter or more leaves are turning yellow.

Now Miss Sockies, yeah well she's been catching up on all the blog reading and she's not to happy with all of you and the suggestion of getting a puppy. I found her reading my blog and doing this to the screen when I got up.
* Stinkin weasels! There will be no puppy in my house!! TTTTTTTTTTHHHARRRRRPPPPP*

It of course wouldn't be a trip to mum and dad's without seeing my girl Summy. We went for a walk down the field and even a little dip in the river :) Her patch is growing in nicely and she's 100% back to normal. I have a picture of her patch but I couldn't fit any more pictures on this post.

I've made good headway on the second sock, and I hope to get it finished next week sometime. Hummmm I'll have to start planning the next one! I'm thinking toe up's maybe????

Friday morning as I was leaving for work, just about to get into the truck I hear a noise on the deck, looking up it see a big brown BEAR!!!!!!!!!!! You wanna see pictures???

ok ok It wasn't a real BEAR persay but it was brown bear to us, aka LUKE!!!!!!!!!
I forgot he was coming to stay over the weekend and they must have dropped him off on the deck when I was in the shower. I had a great weekend with my buddy! I was all excited to get home from work on sunday to see him only to have Moose announce that Luke had gone home.
Out came the pout, "awwwwwwwww but I was looking forward to seeing him, noooooooooooo tell them to bring him back!!"
I love that big ole dog, and if they'd let me keep him I would in a minute.
Moose's reply was, why don't you just go get a dog, you go into depression every time one leaves!
ohhhhhhh its oh soo tempting but what about my baby??? The good thing about Sockies with Luke is that she will come out when he's around. Luke loves to egg her on by jumping at her lol Poor Sock's back gets arched and she beats his nose. Although he likes to tease her I know he's a little weary of her because he won't come up the stairs if she's sitting on them hehehhe

Here's the progress on my Lorna's Laces socks. One down and one to go with lots of yarn to spare. I could have made those tops a good couple of inches longer had I known..... hummmm another reason I should start toe up socks, yes, yes!

I'm taking the Wilton Cake decorating course at work. I started the first class of course 1 tonight and next week I'm decorating my first cake woop wooop! Whether the decorting is good or not is another question but i'm hoping to learn a thing or two from the course.

Introducing the one the only *so far* pair of Claudia's scrummy hand painted Jungle socks!!!!!

Aren't they purdy????? I love love love this yarn. I think this is what Laura would call Sproingy yarn. Its not tightly plied but it just bounces, I love it!
Yarn: Claudia's Hand Painted colourway JUNGLE
Needles: Started out with size 3's with socks in two circs but 3's were just wayyy to big so it was back to my size double pointed's.
Pattern: Gentleman's Fancy Sock from Nancy Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks
Peeves: Not much yardage in Claudia's. I like long tops and I knit them top down. The toes are a little on the tight side but I'm hoping they will stretch out with wash. I was literally left with 6 inches of yarn for each sock.
CLAUDIA WE NEED MORE YARDAGE!!!!!! I'LL PAY THE EXTRA JUST GIVE ME MORE YARDAGE!!!!
These socks as far as I can tell were started on the 10th of August and the final sock was cast off on the 5th or 6th of September, a month is pretty darn good me thinks.

Now in the Spirit of Socktoberfest and my lovely Jungle socks I'm going to answer the sock history questions Lolly posted on her blog for us to answer.

When did you start making socks?? I started making socks in 2005

Did you teach yourself?? I did teach myself from the band around the sock yarn.

What was your first pair?? My first pair was here made with lion brand magic stripes/

How have they held up over time?? Not sure exactly how they have held up, they were a gift for a friend in England.

What would you have done differently? I would have not listened to that stupid band on the yarn and took a class instead.

What yarns have you particularly enjoyed?? I love Claudia's Handpainted!!!!!

Do you like to crochet your socks? What do you knit them on? I don't crochet socks, I prefer knitting to crochet. I knit using size 1 bamboo dpns. I have recently bought size 3 circs to try knitting with two circs but found them too big :(

Which kind of heel do you prefer?? I tried a short row heel my last sock and couldn't figure it out so I go with flaps usually. I may try it again though.

How many pairs have you made?? I have 6 completed pairs and one part of a pair finished.

Believe it or not it was Lolly that inspired me to knit socks again. You see the very first pair of socks frustrated me soooo much I swore I would never knit them again. Then when I discovered the world of knit blogging, Lolly's being among one of the first, she kept talking about how she always has a pair of socks on the needles, and she loves knitting socks and oh socks this socks that. I was thinking "Man is this girl NUTS???" After hearing about her many sock's and seeing all the lovely patterns there were to choose from I decided to give sock knitting one last shot, if I didn't like it this time I was through with sock knitting.
So that's when the Jaywalker crazy was in, a free pattern couldn't be a better way to test my fate with sock knitting. So I grabbed some Regia from a yarn store close by and tried my hand at Jaywalkers. Well holy COW! I was doing it, I was knitting these socks just like the pattern said and I wasn't having any problems. So my jaywalkers turned out to be the first pair of socks I knit for myself, even thought they are tight to get on, they still rock and I will always love those socks. The rest my friends, is history!
I've been glued to sock knitting ever since. I've picked up quite a stash of sock knitting books in the last year and hope to keep curning them out for many years to come.
So lets all raise our glasses to LOLLY!!!! For hosting this fabulous celebration of socks and for inspiring me to give sock knitting one last shot! *clinking of glasses* CHEERS LOLLY!!!

Alpaca's and Socks

As we were leaving the Common Ground Fair we got a chance to stop in at Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm. It is a fairly new farm with a small herd of 3 alpaca's which should be four by now. The middle alpaca in the picture below was pregnant and actually due that day so I'm hoping there is a new baby alpaca amongst the herd now. After taking lots of pictures of the Alpaca's we got a chance to talk to Robin, the owner and ask a good lot of questions about owning and keeping alpacas.....*no reason why, you know just filling our minds with knowledge ;)*

Now while Moose was asking many questions and I was listening and looking at all the Alpaca goods at their stall I started to get veeeeeeeerrry Hot, I mean sweaty hot and woozey. Now do you all remember that ORGANIC beef burger I had for lunch that day??? Little did I know, my stomach was rejecting that organic stuff and telling me not to even try to put any more of that its way. So usually when I feel dizzy I just need to sit for a bit. Well I sat down on the grass,Moose kept on talking but at this point I knew I was in trouble. If you've been around me enough you would know I'm the QUEEN of throwing up. Throwing up to me is the worst thing in the world, but something that happens quite frequently lol I have super duber motion sickness, boats, planes, trains, sometimes cars, ferris wheels, any rides, basically anything that moves. If I stand for a long period of time, I could go on but the newest thing that makes me throw up ORGANIC FOOD!
So as you can guess I went white as a ghost, to which someone commented "OH your really pale looking" YA THINK???? I'm gonna throw up, do you think I'm going to be rosy cheeked. Moose tried to relocate me as I was right IN FRONT of the stall, ohhhh noooo I couldn't throw up in a bush, nope its right in front of the stall for me baby. Now its happened to me before that I tried to relocate myself after going pale and ended up blacking out and falling down a flight of stairs........ yes yes don't think I'll be moving this time. So the inevitable happened, right in front of the stall, but it wasn't just your plain puke, it was massive chunks of burger trying to make its way back up my throat LOVE IT! So after Moose got me something to drink and picked up the puke with his bare hands God love him, he went and got the truck and took me back to the hotel. I was sooooooo embarrassed, Moose just laughed but I swear I could have crawled under a rock and died.
So apart from making a fool of myself we did learn alot about raising and keeping alpaca's BONUS!

This is the only one of the Alpaca's that I remember the name of. Her name is Splenda. I searched the website but they don't have anything about the alpaca's up yet.
Now this beautiful statue is adorning Robin's front lawn. How cute is it.

Now that I've grossed you all out with my puke story, don't worry i'm sure there will be many more to come.

I joined Socktoberfest, which started on Sunday. I have two different socks on the go at the moment, the Lorna's Lace gentlemen's shooting socks and my Norweigan Stockings. I'm about to start the heel of the Lorna's Lace..... yes I know I said that last time but I haven't been working on them since. And the Norweigan Stockings I'm about to start into the fair isle pattern, hopefully I will do it right, these are my first fair isle project and I'm jumping in with two hands tied behind my back and a blind fold on. I've only got the internet and emailing knitters to help me out so wish me luck!

Run Day!

Today was run for the cure day. We got there in just enough time to get our money in and throw on our t-shirts. It was a great day for it, the wind was a tad chilly but with a sweater underneath it was just right. Moose thinks there were around 2,500 people running or walking today. I just can't WAIT to see what the total for our run site is!! I took a few pics before the events but I was too close to get the massive crowd all in.

If you all remember I told you all that whoever donated to the cause would get their name put in a hat and drawn for some yummy yarn. Well I went a little yarn shopping yesterday for the prize as well as my tea swap pals goodies and came home with some of this Fleece Artist as the prize.
This is Peter Rabbit and mohair blend from fleece artist and is ohhhh soooo soft. Its sooo yummy I'd like to keep it myself. So this morning I did a little writing and cutting up of names, put them in a bowl and got Moose to draw for the winner.

Common Ground Fair

Yay for Common Ground. SOMEONE's nagging for fair pictures so here's a start.
We were both staaaaaaaaarving when we arrived. We'd been on the road since 7am and it was now 1pm and we were still without food. So we hunted round the food stall, and while I'm sure all that health stuff was good, I don't like alot of things so we stuck with the organic beef burger, can't go wrong with meat right??? So we devoured our burgers in minutes but still had a gapping hole in our stomachs. The next step for me was fries but we didn't want to stand in the looooong line up so we decided to take a walk around for a while.
Moose -"Where too??"
Me - *grins* " The DONKIES!!!!"
If you don't already know I'm in looooooove with Donkies, well pretty much all animals to tell the truth but Donkies have a special place in my heart. They are just so darn CUTE!
We scoured the animals stalls, looking for the Donkies. Took TONS of pictures of all the animals but I've included a few of my faves in this post.

Miseour Alpaca! These creatures are very skidish. They don't like to be come at with your hands out to pet them, but they sure don't mind if you've got some carrots :)
I've decided Mini donk's are my favourite and something Moose and I hope to own a few of some day. Most of the Donkies were light grey but this little guy was my fav, the brown Donk. In other pictures I look of him he had his ears flopped down but something caught his attention just as I was taking the last picture and I captured this shot with his ears up. Reminds me of Summer when she hears something, the ears perk right up. too cute! You can see part of the Donkies cross, the black stripe just by his shoulder blade. All Donkies have a cross marked in usually darker hair along their back. The legend of the Donkey Cross can be read here
This next picture is of Ben, he's a mule, part horse/part donkey. We could not get over the size of the mules. They are around the same height as a horse but look like a donkey. Here Ben's owner was showing us his teeth, he told us that as a mule gets older their teeth grow out the way so they have to file their teeth down. If the teeth are not filed down, the mule can't eat right and could end up starving to death. Ben was such a sweetheart and when I got up close enough to pet him the owner informed me that he was going to take me home with him to look after the mules because he liked being pet by me. :) lol little did he know I would have taken up that offer in a second.
Of course there were MOO MOO'S! This baby moo moo was a little scared at all the going's on. It was friday when we went to the fair, the day when bus loads of children come so I'm sure he'd had millions of kids around him. I just went up to pet him and tell him everything was ok when moose took this picture. The only picture of me from the whole weekend :) What can I say, I like to be behind the camera.
So there you have some of the animal's from the fair, I of course took TONS more, and I'll have a complete post on Alpaca's and the organic beef burger soon so stay tuned!

BEANO!!!!!!!!!

I'm bAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! Well ok I've been back since Sunday night but you know that horrible word called *work* yeah I've been slaving there and haven't had time to get my pictures downloaded but now I'm all set :)
I'll give you the 411 on the Common Ground Fair next post, in the meantime we stayed in Waterville friday and saturday night. I small little town kinda like where I live now but with a few more BIG box stores. We had a great time even though it rained all of saturday and sunday. I got to go to Yarn Good Store......... yummm. That place was wall to wall yarn and I was soooo over whelmed I had trouble finding stuff. I did however go in with a list in my head of what I would like to get and dang nabbit I came out with it all. Now that is a successful yarn trip. I walked back to the truck with a big grin on my face, jumped inside and said "Ok, I'm Happy"
Saturday night we saw an advertisement in the paper for BINGO! Now I've always joked to Moose that we should go play Bingo some night for fun and Saturday turned out to be the night. We played at the local legion in town and there were a good hundred other players raring to go when we got there. For $13 we got to play all the games, which lasted 2 and a half hours and we had a great laugh. It was soooo much fun, I was on the edge of my seat ever time I was a couple of numbers away. We didn't win any money but we definately will try bingo around our area sometime soon. Moose had never played before and I'd only played as kids so I wasn't quite sure of all the terminology but a really nice couple next to us helped us out through out the night. The one thing we just couldn't understand was how some people called it BEANO...... still have no idea why and the couple next to us said its just what some people call it.
Okey DOkey!
Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the states without getting my "things you can't get in Canada" items. Thats 10 boxes of Frosted Cherrios, 10 bozes of brown sugar pop tarts and I managed to get a couple of boxes of my well patches. We couldn't help but giggle all the way through Hannafords with all that cereal but it will be soooooo worth it when I'm eating cheerios this winter yummmmm!
If you'll remember a few posts ago I said I had finished my jungle socks and started on another pair. I had the cuff done but couldn't get up the energy to do much else on it. Well this weekend and last night I really got stuck into that sock. The pattern was really fun once I go going and wasn't as hard as I had planned. I thought I was going to have to be reading the chart the whole time but it was simple repeats of patterns so it knit up fast. I'm now a couple of inches away from starting the heel but ohhhhh how I love that pink and grey section. Those two colours just go sooo well, I almost wish there were no pink/purple splashes throughout but oh well.
I of course didn't forget about Sockolope while I was away. I brought back some Catnip for her. I'm going to knit some catnip mice for her as Mr. Mouse is still MIA and he's the only thing she will play with other than pieces of paper.

Its 5 more days until the Run for the Cure, I'm still a few dollars away from my goal. I'm got to head down to the Market to pick up some Fleece Artist which will be the prize for the random number generated winner. Donate now so your name can be added to the pot.

YAYYYYY!! I gots me a toy to play with!
We are all doing fine and dandy here in Celtic Ville, a little tired but good.
Yesterday I finally got a camera to replace my broken one. I've only had about an hour tops to play with it so far but I love it, the neighbours can expect to see me lying in the driveway, hanging from trees or standing on the roof, you know wherever I can get a good picture! I love this thing and can't wait to capture some moments from the Common Grounds Fair this weekend.
We are leaving tomorrow morning and hoping to be there by lunch time to check out the sites. I'm meeting up with Dianna and hopefully Amy Boogie at some point this weekend. I am sooo glad for the break from work, I need to just get out in the good ole fresh air and enjoy the fair.

Now tomorrow is Moose's BDay!!! I can't help but get excited for these things. I like everything to be a secret and then bounce around trying not to let it all out until the big day. He already got his gifts from both sets of parents so that just leaves me :) ohhhhh one more sleep! Who says birthdays are just another day when you get old...... phoey! Its all excitement in Celtic Ville.

Run for the Cure!

On October 1st Moose and I will be Walking for the Cure. Breast Cancer has touched sooo many people, around the world whether it be themselves, families, friends and loved ones. I don't think there is one person out there that can say that they don't know SOMEONE who has gone through it. If we all give a few dollars to this more than worthy cause we can make Breast Cancer HISTORY. So I'm calling upon my fellow knitters and blog readers to sponsor me for this walk. Now about my poor camera. Moose pryed the thing open and its still rendered useless because the zoom len is still inside another part of the camera. Good news is Moose said he was going to get me the *nice* camera I've been wanting for a while, for my next gift giving occasion so he said I may as well get it now WOOT WOOT!!! Now who can suggest a really nice digital camera thats got that big old lense on the front, kinda like Cara's. Anyone??

Well Moose called the camera shop today and I guess my camera is DEAD! They said that we would have to send it back to the company and they said by the time you get it back you may as well just buy a new one. The only thing they said they could try was to blow the sand out with compressed air, and they were going to charge $40 for that...... ummmm I think we'll use the air pig we have at home. He tried it and nothing happened so I guess its bye bye camera. :(

We have had a total change in weather here, when I got up to go to work this morning the temp outside was reading 2 degrees.... BURRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! The house was freezing too! Moose cleaned the chimney yesterday and brought our first batch of wood in so we will soon be lighting the fire at night. Yippee!
I loooovee fall, I must say this is my favourite time of year and I can't wait to get out in the fresh air tomorrow. We are headed up to Moose's mum and dad's to go four wheeling tomorrow, I hope we can use their camera because the leaves are just starting to change.

Laura totally surprised me yesterday with this post . Yeah how totally sweet is she, my very own colourway and its BEAUTIFUL! *HUGS*Laura and a certain other Cat lover lady have been here with me since I began blogging, if it wasn't for those two I might not even have a blog. So hugs all around :)

Well I guess thats all I have for now, I've gotta get Sockies packed up for the trip, little does she know the cat carrier is awaiting her heheheh
Hopefully I'll have a few rows done by the time I get back!

Tweeding Along

Crafty Weasel and myself have come up with an exciting KAL ready to kick off the fall and winter months! Its called Tweeding Along!!

The rules are simple!

* start date First day of Autumn 23rd September

* End date First day of Winter 20th March

* You pick the project and we pick the type of yarn, yes a little backwards I know. But as long as you are using some tweed yarn the sky's the limit.

* This is my first KAL and I believe Claudia's as well.... Am I right???

Yay for Summy!

Yay for Knitters Tea Swap 2!! I signed up for this a few days ago and they are already at 150 swappers. Only 200 will be allowed so if you want in you better sign up now!

Thank you all for your concern about Summer. She is back at mum and dad's now and I miss her something awful. She gets soooo excited to see dad though so I know she's doing well where she is. I finally got the results today from the vet and it was only a benine (sp) tumor so nothing to worry about. She said that it could grow back in the same spot, usually if they do grow back its much slower than before but it does not have any risk of spreading. So all in all she's gonna be ok *grins* Moose had to bandage her up before she left to go home though as she tried to scratch the wound and made is start to bleed with her nail. Its healing up nicely now but apparently she's still trying to scratch it. Dad put talcum powder on it today to hopefully easy the itch for her.

I STILL don't have a camera :( I'm gonna have to get it sorted asap. I finished my jungle socks and I've started another pair in the Lorna's Lace I got while I was in Boston, I am loving the colour so far.

Today I also ripped out the tank by saunshine that I finished but it turned out waaayyyyyy to small. I plan to cast on for that soon as well as another OSW possibly with sleeves.

Its only 2 more weeks till Common Ground in Unity, Maine and I'm hopping excited!!! I can't waiiiit! I'm also going to have a little stop in at Yarn Goods Center in Waterville and hopefully find some goodies!

I'm ready ready ready to knit sweaters and cardi's for winter. I've got sooooo many ideas in mind but I really need to gather my thoughts and figure out what is at the top of the list. Then maybe I can pick something up in Maine. :)

Summer

Summer is now at the vet hopefully having her operation. I took her in at 7:30 this morning and hope to have her home before I have to go to work tonight.

Its ohh sooo lonely without my camera! I feel like I've lots my blogging mojo with out it.
If you know me, i'm not much of a talker to start with so no camera makes blogging twice as hard. Moose and I are very different that way, he could ramble on all evening and likes to have the radio on all the time when he's home but me??? I like the quiet, just give me my knitting and let me knit, if I wanna talk I will but if I don't I won't. You know when you meet someone for the first time and you usually get that awkward silence where you don't know what to say?? With me there's no need to say anything :) I'm fine with silence!!!
Anyway enough about that.
I have been knitting, I started the second jungle sock and I'm just about to turn the heel. Won't be long before I have that one off the needles, guess I need to start thinking about the next pair.
I also started a pair of cable wristwarmers from savannahchicknits.com
I'm stuck though on the gusset, for some reason i can't get it to work out so I'll have to have a look at the pattern again and see if I can't figure it out.
Summer is back again for her holiday's :) She's here for a week but we've discovered that she has a lump on her side. Feels like a goose egg under her fur. I took her to the vet today, because as usually I started the what if's. They look a sample of it to see if it was just fatty tissue, which the vet suspected. She said that happens in older dogs. So a few minutes ago the vet called and said it was fatty tissue but there is also something else in there with it and she recommends removing the lump. She also said it would be best to get it sent away to the labs too to see what it was and if its anything we should be worried about. So now I've gotta call my mum and dad, and fill them in :( The vet said they could get her in this week so I just need the go ahead from dad. Please pray my baby will be ok :)

First of all thank you all for your well wishes. I spent all day trying to sleep the dang headache off but to no avail. I then tried tylenol.... nope and then resorted to the Well Patch it worked like a charm and was gone in about half an hour, now why didn't I do that in the first place.... so much for my day off. I'm assuming it was a migraine, not too sure, I have these massive headaches every once in a while. The last time was down in NY when we were on vacation, it was sooo sore I was crying so Moose stopped in at walgreens down there and got me these Well patches, worked like a charm. I've only got a few left so I'll have to get a pack or two when I'm in Maine.
NOW ON TO SOME GOOD NEWS!!!

I'm going to my first fiber festival!!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!! I'm a tad excited as this was planned on the spur of the moment. Dianna told me about the Common Ground Country Fair that is in Unity Maine in September, I told her I planned on going to the sheep and wool down there next year and then she sprung this on me. Well holy cow, Moose was up for it (how awesome is he) and I couldn't resist. I swung a few shift changes with another Manager and I'm all set to go!
I'm very excited to go and see everything, there are even going to be DONKEY'S!!!! Do you know how much I loooooooove Donkey's????? Thats what Moose calls me, Donkey! ohhhhh excited excited! I also on top of all the excitement get to meet my first knitblogger. Dianna and I are going to meet up at some point, kinda nervous about that but we'll see.
The 22nd of September is also Moose's birthday so I'll have to plan something good for him :)
If you're in the Maine area or can make it down it would be great to see you all there, just give me a shout and we can arrange to meet up :)

awww my aching head!

This is going to be a short post today as I currently have a killer headache and i'm about to go lie down in a few minutes.
The concert on the weekend was grrrrrrrreat! I got my sock finished between acts and saw another knitting down the line from me knitting some sweater on circulars, unfortunately my camera got sand in the zoom lens and wouldn't do anything at all during the concert so I have no pictures to show, hopefully we get it going again so I can take some knitting pictures. The concert was awesome, Alan Jackson was by far the best entertainer. Brooks and Dunn were great but the weather kind of damped my attention span on that one. It started to bucket down rain after about their second song. There were about 40 thousand there at the concert and about half of them left when the rain started. We on the other hand were troopers though and wanted to see Brooks and Dunn so stayed till the end. We had garbage bags with us so we put them on like a sweater over our heads. I was a dancing garbage bag for their performance and completely drenched and muddy and cold by the time they were done. It was freezing out but we managed to get fairly close during their performance because sooo many people left.
It took forever to get back to our truck and about 150 vehicles got stuck in the fields where they parked due to all the mud. We however parked at the zoo so just had to walk through all the fields to get there. We decided not to camp that night since we were already drenched but headed back to mum and dad's and stayed the night there. It was a good time for sure but next time we will bring out ducky suits !!

Dave has a great dishcloth pattern out!! I've knit about 5 of them already but can only find a picture of one. Here she is in all her beauty. They are fun to knit and quite addictive. Go check it out!

This last picture I just had to take as I was coming out of Old Navy the other day. The car was in the parking lot....... only in NB would they tie a row boat on top of their car lol

From fall weather to todays beautiful heat...... what in the world is going on???? It was sooo hot today when I got out of work, I was quite shocked after the cold spurts we've been having. I'm not complaining though :) I love me some heat. As for you none sock wearers, I've been wearing socks all summer, :( perks of my job.....NOT we have to wear inclosed shoes at work and that means no sandals :( I haven't had shorts on once this summer, can't wear those to work either so my feet haven't been missing socks at all cause I've been in them 24/7.
Speaking of socks remember my lucious Claudia's HP sock???? Yeah it went to the frog pond. The size 3 circulars were too big, which sucks cause I bought two sets just for socks. The sock was too loose and baggy, and I wasn't about to make my new favourite yarn into something I was never going to wear.
She's much happier now she's on the size 1 dpns and off to the races. I've got one more repeat before I start the heel and its look much better.

My jungle socks will be going on a little camping trip this weekend. Its Country Rocks the Hill in Moncton, the biggest country concert to hit the Maritimes, Alan Jackson, SugarLand, George Canyon, Brooks and Dunn oooooooohhhhh weeeeeee!! I can't wait! Thats all day saturday but tomorrow I have to go to work for a few hours and then we are off to camp in Shediac for a couple of nights, its not too far from where the concert is. I can't wait to get away from work and not have to think about it for awhile, it will also be nice for Moose and I to actually get to see each other and do something together. Roll on tomorrow.
Sock is unaware that she is going to stay at her nanny and granda's for the weekend.... I'm sure she'll be delighted to see Summer.
*Sigh* Where oh where is my buddy??? He hasn't come to see me all summer.... it was sooo much fun to lay 10 feet apart and just look at each other.

*hummm maybe I'll just rub my head on the size of the house instead*

OH where of where as this summer gone to??
As every other blogger was having heat waves I'm sitting waiting for summer to arrive. We've had some nice days but NOTHING compared to what summer usually is here. August is usually the warmest month and the one I look forward to the most.... this year I feel like we got jipped on summer, August is here and it feels like FALL. Ummm pardon me weather but I think you forgot SUMMER!!!!!
All this fall weather have got me craving fall knits, hats, scarves, mittens big wooly sweaters.... am I crazy??? Thats not the worst of it, I was looking at winter pictures the other day and actually MISSED the snow, I definatley must have been on crack that day because I can't possibly miss winter. I do love fall though, I can wear my sweaters and cosy turtlenecks and be snug as a bug and still do things outside without my butt falling off from frostbite. One thing I will look forward to again is sitting by the fire knitting...... *ahhhhh* warm fire!!!
I've got my first hat pattern ready to go, just need the yarn and I'll be off to the races. I think a few pairs of hand warms will be at the start of the line up as well, I could have used them a few nights ago.

Remember the Frog Sweater pattern Amy sent me?? Well I'm gonna use KnitPicks Merino Style yarn for it but can't decide on the main colour. I'll be using Asparagus for the frog but as for the background colour do you think I should go with storm, dusk,or frost... or even a different colour?? Its for a little boy and it would be a size two I'm making. Here's the site for colour reference.

Doggy Visitors part 1

Luke isn't the only doggy visitor we've had. Last weekend we had Zoomer and Toddy visit. They are Nova Scotia Duck Trawlers. Toddy is the older of the two while Zoomer is only about a year and a live wire. Poor Sockies got the shock of her life when they both came bounding up the stairs at here. lol Her back arched and she actually started growling like a dog at her. Poor thing!
She stayed clear of those two but she honestly doesn't mind Luke soo much as he's older and well behaved. She'll come out when he's here and has no problem letting him know who's boss.

The last night we had Zoomer and Toddy we took them down to the water to go swimming. They loooove to swim. Zoomer has this cloth frisbee type toy that floats in the water that he goes CRAZY over. We spent most of the time throwing it for him while Toddy only went up to his belly.

Here they are both trying to carry the toy back to Moose. Toddy of course is much slower than Zoomer so we tried to give him a head start :)

Looking for the lost toy with Moose. It was hiding behind one of the row boats that was anchored.

Sockies had one days grace from having Zoomer and Toddy to then having Luke invade her home. All these dogs are having Moose want one now. Sockies you must use your charm to avoid having a puppy around 24/7.

Don't get me wrong I loooove dog's and didn't want to leave Zoomer and Toddy, I told Moose it wasn't fair to get me attached to these dogs and them take them back home again. I only had them for 48 hrs but I took them everywhere with me. We went on a trip to mum and dad's as saturday nanny and granda left to go home. They got to watch the parade there, but didn't like those horses. I had to take them away from the road as I didn't want them to spook the horses.
Then it was back home for some playtime, Toddy even slept at my feet both nights. How could I NOT get attached!
I also told Moose though that it wasn't fair to Sockies to have her hiding in the closest the whole time, Summer she is used to because she's grown up with her but I don't think she'd take to kindly with a new puppy. That and we want to get two dogs so I think that would really put her over the edge. Moose will just have to wait!

Oh Claudia's how do I love thee??
Let me count the way.

I have found my yarn! Many knitbloggers have one yarn they adore and are in love with. I so far hadn't found mine, that is, until Claudia's HP and I met.
It knits like butter! The yarn just glides around the needles with no effort at all, like it knows its job and what its there to do. As my sock gets longer the cuff rubs against my wrist and I fall in love all over again. I want to be wrapped up in this yarn. I want to attach it to the inside of my duvet cover so I can feel its softness. Does that make me crazy?????
I think if I had a sweater made of this it would never be off me. It would be one of those sweaters that gets worn sooo much it has massive holes in it yet you still continue to wear it just for the plan fact thats its your favourite no matter how much you look like a dog's breakfast! hummm now I want a cardi out of this. AMY LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!

~Lukemiester is on doggy vacation at my house. His mum and dad went on vacation without him :( but he's come for a sleep over with me. He is taking roll of Man of the house while moose is at work, in Moose's lounger of course hehehhe~

Mr.Mouse

Not ten minutes after I had took pictures of my present from Amy I heard a thud and I could hear Sockies prancing around on the stairs. I was actually uploading the pictures at the time so I came away from the computer only to find THIS!!!

That would be Sockies vigourously attacking my Claudia's Hand Painted. I was absolutley horrified, Sockies never bothers with my yarn but she was grabbing this between her teeth, shaking it and then throwing it. I quickly grabbed my precious yarn away from her and threw her new toy Mr. Mouse at her. It was then that I realized that the yarn and Mr. Mouse were wrapped up together so he must have rubbed some catnip on my yarn. I must be very careful where I leave it down while knitting it.
How is Mr. Mouse doing you ask???

*Man that Amy chick sure knows what I like, now get over here mouse so I can slob you to death*

Poor Mr. Mouse got serverly beaten within the next 30 minutes. He was slobbered on until he was sopping wet. And at the end of the battle was missing one eye. *oohhhh Mr. Mouse let me rub my head on you, ohhhh you smell sooooo goood*

Mr. Mouse has since then lots his other eye but has become the favourite toy. Sockies rarely plays with toys, she'll bat a ball around when she walks by but it doesn't last long. Mr. Mouse has been played with many times since he came to live with us. He was missing in action until last night, I think Sockies hid him because all of a sudden he was back in action and skitting across the floor. Amy Sockies thanks you for an awesome toy!

New Brunswick Day Trip

Moose and I both had the day off yesterday so we headed down to St. Andrews.
St. Andrews by the sea as its also referred as, is another village on the way to Maine from St. John. Its a very popular village Americans tend to come to for some relaxation. The main street is full of cute little shops and restaurants as well as Cricket Cove. Of course I drug Moose in for a look and bought some circulars for my first try at knitting socks with 2 circs. On our way home I was knitting away when Moose all of a sudden shouted BUNNIES!!!!!! I looked up and all I saw was a house, surrounded by green grass and bunnies EVERYWHERE! They were all just sitting around the yard. Of course I stopped and hauled out the camera. Just before I went to take the picture the man that lived in the house came outside with a bucket of pellets and started feeding them. I asked if I could go pet them and of course he said yes. They were all soooo cute! Here are a few pictures Moose took as I was feeding and petting them.

These are only the few that were in the front yard. I asked the man how many he had and he said around 70 or so. He started with a couple and of course they multipled, at one point he had over 100.
This is the sign thats graces their front garden. I thought it said welcome to the bunny hutch and immediately pulled out the camera to take a picture for Laura but alas it said Welcome Bunny watchers!
As we were leaving we looked at the neighbours yard and saw that the bunnies were over that one too. We sure hoped the neighbours like bunnies as much as they do :)
The Algonquin pictured about is a famous hotel in St.Andrews for its Victorian style. This is where alot of the vacationers come to stay, who could blame them :)

Cricket Cove is having an Autumn Retreat at the end of September in St. Andrews! There are going to be classes , demos given by Sally Melville author of The Knit Stitch, The Purl Stitch, Colour, and Sally Melville Styles. Kathyryn Thomas from FLEECE ARTIST is also going to be there demoing knitting with handpainted yarns and knitting with swing needles! Both Cricket Cove locations will be open to shop till you drop at and of course lots of knitting time to knit by the fire. Can I tempt anyone??? I really want to go but I'm not the type of person that would go by myself. Can I tempt anyone for a little NB vacation??? I'll make sure you get to London-Wul as well. Check out the info and class schedules on the website. I'd love to have you come and experience NB!

Today is New Brunswick Day and a Stat holiday aka day off!!!!!
So in order to celebrate New Brunswick I've put together a little factoid post. When people ask what is there to do in NB I kind of draw a blank, there are tons of things to do here and travellers seem to love our province but I guess living here you take so much for granted.
My family fell in love with NB right away and its how we came to be living in Canada now!

The New Brunswick Flag!

The gold lion on a red background represents the Duchy of Brunswick, a possession of Britain's King George III who ruled in the year of New Brunswick's creation in 1784. The galley, with oars in the water, represents New Brunswick's early seafaring industrial history.

Facts
- we have the highest and wildest tides in the world!
- warmest salt water beaches north of virginia (hummmm its still cold to me)
- more kinds of whales more often than anywhere
- Kings County *where I live* is the Covered Bridge captial of Canada
- 6,000 kms of snowmobile trails!
- St. Stephen houses Ganong Chocolate factory,maker of the world's first chocolate bar!

Briggs & Little - is the Oldest Canadian woolen mill, check out the virtual tour and take a look at the mill and those massive carders. This mill has been open since 1857, although facing 4 fires, they rebuilt each time and is still up and running today :)

London-Wul- London-Wul is a farm, rabbitry, spinning and yarn HAVEN!!!! This is the place I've been BEGGING from Moose to take me to and also where I will be taking my spinning wheel to, to see if Heidi deems it spin worth or just for decoration. This place is my dream world and would be what I'd love to have some day along with a few donkies of course :)

Miss Amy is knitting THIS froggy sweater for her neice. How cute is that? I thought it was sooo cute that it would be perfect for one of the many babies popping up. I emailed Amy and asked where I could get it and she promptly replied saying she could send me one in the mail as they had them at her LYS. BONUS! That was fine with me so of course for the kind offer I asked her what I could send her in return. She said she has the Sock bug at the moment and hasn't tried dyeing, could I dye her some sock yarn? WELL YESSSS!!
Anyway my pattern arrived today and it is sooo adorable. Now also in the package was a cute little crochet mouse for Sockies from Thomas. If you all don't know who Thomas is check him out HERE Thomas my friends is Sockies twin. How cute is that?? Now to top it all off that wasn't all. All I wanted was a pattern here and she sends me none other than CLAUDIA'S HANDPAINTED!!!! HOLLLLLLY FRIG! I was opening the package while driving on the way to work. Probably not a good idea when you realise you've got Claudia's Hand Painted in your hands. Ohhh man it is soooo soft and sooooo my colours. Its called Jungle and its different types of greens. I'm in looooove!

Ohhhh weeee! We got new colours of dishcloth cotton at work and I'm super excited. They are also on sale this week, double bonus. As I didn't work the weekend I missed the first two days of the sale and when I went in monday there were only 2 skeins of the green varg. that I really wanted. I quickly snapped those up as well as a few others. I can't wait to knock off a few different dishcloths with these, I've been in dishcloth mode for the past few weeks now, all I can seem to think about. Nanny's socks did NOT get completed for Saturday when I went to see her. Procrastination is my only excuse, I picked up butterfly and had no desire at that time to knit socks at all. I did get her to try the one on that I had finished and it fits perfectly so I had the second one ready and waiting for when they arrived today. Here she is with her new "toasty" socks on as she calls them.
Later in the afternoon Moose and I lounged on the deck for awhile in the new loungers Moose came home with one night after getting groceries. I must admit that they are super comfy, but not what I expected when he went for FOOD. I worked on the finishing touches of a dishcloth for one of the girls at work. She brought me in some of her strawberry jam so I said I'd make her a few dishcloths.
This is a pattern I've had for ages for this cute little sweater vest dishcloth made out of one of the new colourways I got from work. Her kitchen is done in sunflowers so it should match nicely.
Is this not the cutest dishcloth ever????? Mum says its too nice to wash dishes with :)
Moose wants one too so I guess I'll be casting on for another one. He says they're cool!

Last Sunday Moose and I headed back down to St.Martins for the afternoon. When the tide goes out caves appear on the beach that you can go and explore. We spent the afternoon there exploring and wading.

There are definately alot of places in NB that I haven't been to yet. This summer I will try to show you some more attractions around these parts!

Updates!

Ok ok they have arrived thank goodness but not before some more worrying and running around. The flight was delayed not one but TWO days! So in order to make sure they were alright I called the glasgow airport hotels in order to speak with them but with no luck. So we had to wait until the next day with fingers crossed hoping they were on the next plane. They were due to arrive in at 9am. Mum and dad had stayed in Halifax both nights as its a 4 hr drive back here. Then of course the 9am was delayed and they weren't coming in until 3pm. I found this out by calling zoom on my breaks at work. I'd left messages for mum and dad to call when the plane came in but hadn't heard anything yet. So at 3:30 I still hadn't heard anything. Called zoom AGAIN! delayed until 4pm. argggggg this was getting a little rediculous! At 4:30 i get home from work and get a call from mum saying we have your nanny and granda PHEW!!!!!
Talk about a frenzy! I'm glad they were on the plane and got here safely. Mum then tells me that instead of staying at the glasgow airport hotels they take them all the way out to Edinburgh to stay...... and the plane that was coming from glasgow to halifax went all the way to ottawa, dropped off people and then came back to halifax. They flew right over us for goodness sake!
Anyway they are here, all is good. This mishap has given me some extra time for nannies socks thank goodness. Since I don't have a day off during the week this week, I won't see them till the weekend, which means a whole weeks extra knitting time woot woot! I'm on sock number 2 now and just about to start the heel. I should have no problem finishing them before saturday!

Now in other knitting news, because of all the delays I decided to pick up and sew my Ruby tank together. Well................ it took all of saturday to sew it up, I wanted it to be just right and sewing up as you know is not something I enjoy. So at about 8pm I whip off the shirt and try it on.................. First thing I learn this week, my boobs are bigger than I thought..... not exactly a bad thing I suppose but IT IS WHEN YOUR FINISHED TANK DOESN'T FIT!!!!!
To put it mildly I took like a hooker thats trying to flaunt something. Instead of the front sides covering half my boobs and then layering with another tank underneath it covers NONE of my boobs. It goes right around then so my boobs are basically just sticking out! AHHHHH!!!
Well apparently I'm an xs in this pattern EXCEPT my boobs! Well FRIG!
Now I'm not so sure what size to knit. Obviously I've gotta take the whole thing appart, I do want to make the body longer as I have a longer torso but what if I make the small and it still doesn't fit my boobs. I don't want to make the medium and then the tank be too baggy.
DANG DANG DANG!!!
I'm off to work on my lace in the quiet before Moose gets up!

WHERE ARE THEY!!!!

Just little old me having a freak attack over here!
So nanny and granda are supposed to be here well they aren't and here's where it gets interesting!
Mum and dad left for Halifax yesterday to pick them up that night as their flight was coming in at 6 or so and then I was going to go down and see them today being my day off.
Well it isn't quite going that way. Apparently they have to add some part to the plane in glasgow and were going to do it right then and there so the flight was cancelled and rebooked for the next day. Thats fine! Mum calls after 2, when the flight was supposed to come in and still no flight its now been delayed till tomorrow morning! So they we are assuming are in a hotel again!
Nanny and Granda will be up to a hundred I'm sure. They need assistance as it is so I'm sure this is just freaking them out. Zoom airlines doesn't seem to know who I can contact about where they put them up so I've been trying to find a number or something. I got a list of hotels from my friend in Scotland that are the airport hotels and have been calling them but I've had no luck yet.
ARGGGGG!!!! This is sooooo frustrating!
I just tried the last number I had but they aren't there!

I NEED HELP!
I was on a blog the other day, not sure how I got there but it was probably through someone's comments or something. Anyway to make a long story short I can't remember the blog and since it was probably someone's blog that comments here I'm hoping you can help.
It was a british blog, this leads me to believe it was Annarella's comments I entered from but can't seem to find it. The girl was from london and she had made a toddlers sweater with the england football flag on it. White sweater with red line vertically and then horizontial. She had then given the pattern for the sweater and I'd really like to find it again. I've revamped the Callum sweater and had a new idea. So if this sounds familiar to anyone can you point me in the right direction plllllllease!

My Kitchen as it looks NOW!
This is my favourite part of the cabinets. See my cute little cupboard dad made for me. It holds all my plates, room for a funky teapot on the top shelf and the drawers on the bottom actually pull out as one but are 3 seperate compartments.
You'll notice we still need to put a backsplash in. We were thinking tiles but I haven't seen anything that I like yet. Then I was thinking to just paint it like the rest of the kitchen. Anyone have any suggestions??
The kickboard along the bottom of the cupboards is also missing at the moment as well as a new window sill and I'm thinking about changing the lights some time.

Finished Objects!

One Skein Wonder is complete! This was made with 2 50g balls of bamboo yarn. I really do love the feel of this yarn, it soooo soft and light, I really don't even realize I have it on. It definately was a quick knit and a cute addition to the warbrobe. There most definately will be more of these in my near knitting future, and possible ones with sleeves as well. I don't have anything this colour in my wardrobe and I must say I really like it. I think I'll be branching out on my colour usage this year as well. I tend to pick up everything in my favourite colour that season and then end up with all one colour...... example PINK.
Here also are the little star sweaters back from being sewn and having been freshly blocked.
This sweaters are sooo darn cute I don't want to give them away. Its a good thing I don't have kids yet because its very tempting to keep them. Alas they will be on their way shortly to England where hopefully two little boys will enough them.

Demo news: The doors are ON! :) You'll have to wait till my next post as I want to get a good picture in the day time of them. Only thing left now to put on is the kick board and decide on a backsplash. I'm super duber pleased with how it all turned out though, Dad rocks and made everything just the way I wanted it, Including my favourite cupboard.

In knitting news : I didn't get much knitting done on the weekend with all the door hanging. I still need to sew up and add the neck to my tank, but it possibly might have to go on the back burner for now. I hate to do that seeing as I'm soooo close to being finished but well Nanny and Granda are coming, they arrive THIS SATURDAY!!!! *GULP* I'm one and a half socks away from finishing nanny's cable socks. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?? I was doing sooo well. I guess it all came about when I couldn't decide on a heel and decided to set them down for a while until I decided and then..... well then it was too late. I picked them up again tonight and decided there was no time for hummin and haaaing a heel had to be knit. The quickest way I knew how was the plain old heel I usually do so these are going to have to do. Nanny will love them regardless of what the heel looks like. The next bunch of socks will be for myself seeing how I only have one pair so I'll do a little more experimenting with heels then. Until then its knit socks knit!!!!

ohhhhh ohhhh my counter top is on and I friggin LOVE IT!
I don't know what those people where thinking putting green in here. I want to show you but I think I'm gonna wait till the doors are hung and then you can see a before after picture!

I finished the front of Ruby with only the necking to go. I'm not sure but I think I might have missed the decrease stitches at the waste on one side so i'll have to check it out. It won't take long to re knit that size anyway as its only a thin strip.
There's gonna be some blockin in da house this weekend. I want to get Ruby finished and blocked as well as my OSW and the twins star sweaters are back and in need of a good blocking.

I'm torn as what to do right now, I feel like taking a nap but part of me wants to knit and part of me wants to read.... wish I could do all three at once.
I'll hopefully be back soon with some FO's!

Knitting up a storm!

Lots of knitting has been happening in Celtic land these past few days and it feels grrrrrrrrreat to have the time to just kick back and knit. As of late the only time I've had for knitting has been during my breaks at work which just isn't cutting it for me. Amazing Lace is well underway and I've still got a loooooong way to go. So yesterday, my day off was devoted to knitting and laundry from our trip :) The evening I spent knitting on Butterfly. I was getting a tad bored of that 8 row repeat by the end of it but I have now finished the border and I'm ready to rock on the body of the vest.

During the day yesterday I chugged along on the project I started on the drive home from Boston. Its Ruby one of Sauniell's gorgeous patterns! The yarn I am using is mercerized cotton in a light pink that I had in my stash. I started the front this morning and hope to have it completed in a day or so, if I didn't have to go to work I'd probably have in done by tonight :)
You are probably wondering about my One Skein Wonder???? If you aren't then WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! I finished that on sunday afternoon. You'll have to wait for pics as Moose and I are on opposite shifts at the moment. I must teach Sockies to use the camera.Mum and I sat out on the deck knitting away in the sunshine. It was a great day out but I'm afraid I ended up with lobster arms because of it. Mum cranked out a few dish cloths with one of my giant balls of cotton. She took it home with her so she could make some more. They are simple but cute. She used two by two ribbing. I see she left me two so I'll have to get them sewn up so I can use them :)

Now in demo news, my countertop and doors are ready to be put in. YIPPPEE!! If we can get the bases vanished and ready by the weekend Dad said he'll come down and put the rest in so I'll have a finished kitchen WOOT WOOT! Oh and while I remember the dish washer is faaaaaaabulous! No more dish washing and more knitting time :)

She's Back in Action!!!!

My baby's HOME!!! Mum and Dad brought her down on the weekend. It was tough leaving her their for those extra days since we got back but since they were coming down on the weekend it only made sense.
I think she's glad to be home and away from Summer :)
She's back to her usual lazy self and getting lots of attention :)

Her favourite place is right outside the door. Anytime its open she dashes out only to roll around on the cement step at the door.

Hummm do I show you yarny goodness or pictures from the trip.... yarny goodness or pictures from the trip.......
OH heck i'll show you yarny goodness cause frankly I didn't talk many pics as we were lots 99 percent of the time in the truck....... but lets not go there.
Ok I present Yarny GOODNESS!!!!

The below picture is of the books I picked up while I was gone. We've got Socks, Socks, Sock, Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush *I'm loving this one cause its actually a spiral bound one and will lay flat while i'm knitting, I for one think all knitting books should be spiral, I'm always trying to knit and hold the book open in my lap* I got a Good Yarn by Debbie MacComber which I've been wanting to read. All these came from Borders. Man I could have stayed in there all day! Four whole shelves of knitting books!!! WOOT WOOT! I love it! Folk Socks by Nancy Bush was from A good yarn which I managed to get to on Tuesday before we left. Do you notice a theme in my pattern books???? I still can't believe it after I said I'd never knit another sock when I completed my first pair. PSSSSAWWWW! Never say never!

OK OK I can hear you all chanting "YARN YARN!" I'm getting there be patient! Geesh! Now as I was saying I got to A Good Yarn on Tuesday right before we left the city. I didn't make it there on sunday and when we finally found it on Monday..... it was closed all day. GAAAAAAA CLOSED ALL DAY!!!! NOOOO WAYYYY!! So i whined on the way back to the hotel and Moose said we could go before we left the next day. heheheh I knew my whining was good for something. Alison at Blue Blog works at a Good yarn but she wasn't there that day :( I did however see her Airplane sweater on display, it was tooo cute!
Now let me just say that A Good Yarn was PACKED full of yarn. There was sooo much yarn there I was a little overwhelmed and didn't know what was what or where to start. I of course headed straight to the sock yarn to get my trekking for the KAL...... NO TREKKING:( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I guess so much for the KAL!
Anyway besides the no trekking I did manage to spend a good chunk of moola!
Below we have from left to right 4 balls of sugar and creme that actually came from Michaels, 3 balls of kid silk haze in that yummy green I love so much which will become my Kiri Shawl, 8 balls altogether of Dale of Norway ULL for those norweigan socks in Folk Socks by Nancy Bush. In the front we have 2 skeins of Lorna's Lace, colourway.... pink purple and grey??? lol All this is upstairs so thats all your getting for now. It is sooooo incredibly soft I can't wait to try it out. And also my very first Chibi. I must say I had noooooooooo idea what in the world this Chibi was that everyone talked about on their blogs. I knew it was a needle of some sort in a plastic thing... but that was it :) Well now I have my own :) Its perfect cause I can't keep a darning needle for more than one project, I always loose it. It doesn't look like alot but heck that yarn all adds up I tell ya. When the lady was putting it in the bag I said...... awww great a clear see thru bag, it had to be see thru, my husbands in the truck lol. She laughed and said did you want me to wrap it in something else, I replied with a no, he'll see it some time :)
When we were getting all our reciepts together for the border he said wooow that much for whats in that one bag. Man that looks like about $20 worth of yarn.......
Me - Yes dear $20 worth lol *rolls eyes, clearly he has no clue*

This is my new cute little book holder I got at Michaels that matches my living room and looks like its going to be holding alot of yarn books!
Of course I couldn't go to the states and not come back without my cinnamon and brown sugar pop tarts. We do have pop tarts up here but for some reason we don't get this kind. So i've got 3 boxes of the shaws, 32 poptarts :) a pack of the go tarts that I had to try in the same flavour and I found some tetley that we don't have at home either so I got a box of each.

Now since we've been living in Canada we noticed that you can't just get normal flavoured Tetley like at home, its Orange Pekoe so when I saw the Classic and British blend I knew one had to be the right one. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Well there you have it the yarn goods! Now I'm off to work again :(

Sock Bucket

I'm just in from work and sUUper Duuber excited. But first there is a story to go along with my excitedness.
Ok so for the past while I'm been carrying a *coughs* plastic bag to work with my knitting in it. *Hangs head in shame* I know I know you're all thinking "a plastic bag???? Is she on crack??? No one would disgrace their knitting enough to carry it around in a plastic bag."
Well I did and have frankly because I wasn't going to shell out the money for something I didn't really like. I haven't come across a knitting bag that I've actually said I NEEEED THAT....... that is until 2 weeks ago. Jen recieved her dyeorama yarn from Rosa. Not only did she get yarn but Rosa made her a Sock Bucket that matched her yarn! Here's Jen's BUCKET *scroll down to june 7th to see it.*
You back?? Ok how cute was that? So now that I was totally head over heels in love with this cute little bag, I had to have one. Not to mention that I'd had comments at work about my plastic bag *grumbles* HEY IT WAS SERVING ITS PURPOSE! AS LONG AS I COULD KNIT AT WORK I WAS HAPPY! I emailed Rosa and she said she certainly could make one for me.
WOOOOPPPPPPEEEE! Now I was super excited. Not only could she make me one but she could have it on its way to me in 2 days. Holy BATMAN! ROSA THE SUPER SEW 'er!
Just as she said it would be, two days later it was on its way to MEEEEEE!!!
She had posted a picture of it on her website so of course while waiting for it to arrive I kept going back and drooling over it.
So fast forward to Friday that just passed. I get the mail on the way home from work and my little notification is there that says I have a package. WOOP WOOOP! How sweet is this, I get to take it to Boston. So we did some running around in town and I go to get my package....... the post office part of Shoppers is closed.................... *gasps* but the lady was still there so I said I" just here to pic up a package. I can see all the boxes lined up in the back room, one with my name on it.
She says - "Sorry the systems are closed, I need to process it through the computer, we are open again at 9 in the morning."
Me - But i'm not going to be here I'm going away, I can't just get my package???
Lady - Sorry the system's are down I can't do it.
Me - Storms out of post office and getting in truck ranting to Moose about not being able to get my package. Stupid post office ...... mumble mumble. I really wanted to take that to Boston.
Little did I know when I told Rosa that my package was here and I just couldn't get it yet she says if she would have known I was going to Boston she would have hand delivered it as she lives 40 mins away. :( DANG!

So after all that, here's the much awaited pictures of the cutest Sock Bucket on earth!

Its square on the bottom so it actually sits up right. There is even a few pockets on the inside and a pen pocket too!
I couldn't be happier with my new bag. Its exactly what I wanted!
Rosa does have a shop on her blog and sells some really cute diaper bags and bibs.
She also sells two more sizes in the bag I got. The sock bucket is the small one, just the right size for a sock project, then she has a medium size for a cardigan project and then a large that would fit a blanket project.
I'm strongly considering the next size up as well :) Rosa just doesn't know it yet hehehhe

I'm baaack I'm baaackk I'm glad to be back!

Yuppers I'm home again home again! We arrived home at 2am this morning ugggggg and we both have to work tonight. I'm soooooo glad to be home but I REALLY don't want to go back to work tonight, or the next night or EVER :)
I've got some yarny goodness to share with you but you'll have to wait till tomorrow. The truck is still packed and I've gotta head to work in about an hour. BOOOOOOO for work!

Boston Bound!

Well we have arrived........ after 3 extra hours of driving around trying to find our hotel. What is it with men and not wanting to ask directions!!!! I got out to ask myself because we'd already wasted enough time driving around and ending up in the same place. We stopped at a gas station and the guy didn't speak english AHHHHHHHHHHH we were destined to be lost forever. This of course was all after we bought a map too. Map's aren't to good though unless they have the streets MARKED on them. Honestly it was a complete nightmare! We stopped in Lexington and Moose finally went in and asked for directions HERE.

Well we all know he didn't want directions he just wanted to go see their trucks and talk to the guys. HONESTLY! He did come out WITH directions but seemed to know alot of other things about their department as well. *rolls eyes*
While all this was happening OSW was making her appearance in the world. This bamboo yarn is sooo silky smooth its going to be wonderful on. One thing I didn't like about it is that it seems to be all these tiny strands that make up the one *unlike two strands plyed together* so you've got to make sure you get all the strandies or they will stick out all over the place on the front. I did however make the mistake of leaving the second ball.......... AT HOME!!! Dang it! Good thing I brought my second project to work on so I won't be stuck for something to do.
We *coughs* I am planning to go to A Good Yarn today. They open at 1 so it should give us lots of time incase we get LOST. Hopefully I'll have some yarny goodness to share soon.
Well I must get Moose up so we can take advantage of the continental breakfast!!!

Guess what's in the box yaaaaaaaaa'll guess what's in the box. I'm a taddy mc waddy excited about the box in my kitchen. Do you know do you know do you know whats in the box???
Not like you can tell by the writing on the side or anything *Cough cough*

MY DIIIIIIIIISHWASHER! Its here its here! I took pictures of the inside too heheheh But then I figured you might think I was just a TAD bit crazy. NOOOOOOOO I'm not crazy!
I'm dishwasher happy!!!! While I was peeling the plastic off the front I was singing
"your beautiful, that's for suuuureee" to it. WEEEEEEEEE No more dishes all over the counter, no more bent backs from washing dishes!!! No more dishpan hands! YIPPPEEE!!!
Now we just have to put it in. It won't of course be until we come back.

Thats the other reason I'm soooo pumped! I'M GOING TO BOSTON TOMORROW BABY!!! Holy crap Tim and Faith is only a couple of days away!!! There will definately be time for shopping and sightseeing in Boston. I have been saving and not buying much knowing that I'm going to be in new yarn stores and many other kinds I HOPE! I cast on for my OSW and plan to knit it on the way there. I also have another project but you'll have to wait until I come back or possibly a post from the road.

Proposal!

ok folks! I have a proposal. This is for anyone interested in some cotton or possible avid dishcloth maker. I have pictured below three POUND balls of Bernat cotton. They are all varigated. I obviously have wayyy to much of the stuff but I figured hey you can never have too many dishcloths right? Well The patterns I've been wanting to make lately are all using several solid colours. If anyone is interested I'm offering to do a trade grams for grams. I'd like some solid colours for some of my varigated. I'll wind however much you want of each or any into center pull balls before sending. If anyone's interested please leave a comment and make sure you have an email where I can contact you on there.

I know you want to! Its more DEMO!!!!!!
But wait! This is fun demo! The picture below is of the current state of my kitchen. All our previous cupboards have been removed and anxiously awaiting are my new cupboards ready to be installed. Mum and Dad are coming down tomorrow and dad's going to put them in. He's got all the boxes ready to go. I don't think the doors are quite ready yet but heck I'll just be glad to proper cupboard's and to not look like the hunchback when doing dishes. I'm getting a countertop a bit higher than standard because i'm taller and have to hunch over all the time. PLUS now that my counter top will be high enough I'm able to get my dishwasher. I will kiss that thing when it gets here :)

It will be interesting to see the difference once we get the new ones in.

Seeing Blue!

Surprisingly I have not one but 3 project spectrum projects on the go this month. 4 if you count my P socks which are sitting in the knitting basket until I figure out what I did wrong!
I've cast on for Nanny's Socks once again. I'm trying the basic cable sock pattern because I'm bound and determined that these socks will have cables!!! I'm about to start the heel and think I'd like to try something new for it. Any suggestions???

Second is of course Butterfly, which is coming slowly but surely. I'm up to about 8 repeats. Haven't had much time to work on it since I started it but I'm trying to get a repeat done every now and again. This is definatley going to be an all summer project!

Three is going to be a one skein wonder. I'm using the blue bamboo yarn I won in a contest around February time. This yarn is silky soft and is going to be a nice addition to my wardrobe.

I was finally able to get a picture of one of our little friends who arrive in the summer for a seasonal visit. He was enjoying the weeds growing in the gravel when Moose stepped out the door tonight. I managed to get the camera and he got quite close before he hopped off. *sighs* If only I could pick him and give him a little squeeze :) They are just too darn cute for words!

SURPRISE MAIL!

How awesome is surprise mail????? It gives me warm fuzzies to think that someone is thinking of me :)
Before I show you the goodies remember the orange and yellow yarn I dyed?? My first dyeing with koolaid and easter egg dye??? I finally skeined it up, same time I did my dyeorama pals and look! How yummy is that? I really like it! I'm calling it Florida Orange!
There will be more on what I dyed for my pal once I hear from them.

Sockies was in on the action when I opened the box that arrived for me. Head right in the box!
There was something for HER! Two fluffy balls rolled in CAT NIP! Well she took one and off she went to like it! They are a new favourite!

Also in the box arrived a bright bright hand dyed yarn! One I had been admiring!

Chris from Stumbling over Chaos sent me a surprise of some yarn she dyed. A very Chaos Chocolate bar, a cd of silly songs and the present for sockies! How rocking is that???

Progressing Lace

WOOT WOOT!!! Looky here! I'm knitting lace!!!

I'm taking it slow and steady, no need to get frustrated early in the race. It took about 2 hrs for me to finish the first repeat..... slow would be an understatement but its done and its perfect :)
After the first repeat I was kind of skeptical if I was even doing it right at all. I held it up all different ways and couldn't figure out which part it was supposed to be exactly, it looked like a knotted mess. Now that I'm four repeats in I can clearly see that its the border around the bottom. Picture one would be the way it sits on the garment. The pictures look actually alot clearer and easier to figure out than me looking at it in person at the moment lol
I shall continue at my slow pace and hopefully it won't be long till i'm flashing a finished border.

May I first add! Thank you for all the great comments on the stripe socks! I think thats the most comments I've ever had. I thought it was a mistake at first when it said how many I had lol
I've very pleased with the turn out and you cannot tell one smidge there is a difference. The Regia yarn is called Crazy colour for those asking!

Last night Moose and I made a last minute decision and headed over to the A.Q. to see Aaron Lines play. He's a relatively new country singer on the go and man he can sing. His big hit on the radio at the moment is Waiting on the Wonderful, does that ring a bell??? He's a Canadian hailing from Alberta and was doing a tour of Maritime pubs. His opening act was J.P. Clark, a Nova Scotian again new to the country scene. We got seats right in front of the stage...... closest you could get without sitting on the dance floor. My camera really sucks for night time pics though so these were all that I came up with. It also didn't help that a mass of girls all got up to dance when Aaron started to sing. Never the less it was still a good time.

TAAAAAADAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
I seriously thought I was going to be screwed when I ran out of yarn for these babies. I'm not really into the different coloured toes but I really had no choice so off I go to the LYS with my fingers crossed to see if I can get a match for the toes.
With sock in hand I walked into the store and she looked at it and said "I have that yarn!"
At this time I can't believe what I'm hearing.
Me - "YOU DO?"
Lady - "Yup!" Halls out yarn.
ALAS! Its REGIA not Lion brand that I had. But it does on the other hand look fairly similar. I was hesitant to take it cause I figured yeah it will look really stupid with off colours so I looked around for a pink, green or blue but nothing.
Finally she said
Lady - " Why don't you take it and try it, I'm almost sure its the same yarn. If it works come back and pay for it and if it doesn't bring it back and I'll knit something with it myself."
Me - " REALLY??? Are you sure????"
Well heck I didn't have anything to loose and no other yarn store near by so I took the yarn home and tried it out.
Turns out that the blue and red were much darker than my lion brand but the other colours were dead on.
So with a few minor adjustments I was about to make them matching right to the end.

Meet Team Celtic!

Team Celtic originating from the British Isles managed to find each other in Portland Maine and now reside in NB Canada. Their current home in NB is where they will all work together for one thing and one thing only....

THE AMAZING LACE!

This challenge is a first for all! Kelly although having been a knitter for many years is coming ready for her first lace knitting experience! This team is definately going to have to work together and feed of each others strengths if they want to complete this challenge on time. The team has been together for 5 months now and have been waiting for the right time to form together and create Butterfly! With co-operation and great teamwork I have high hopes that Team Celtic will make it to the end!

Yesterday I caught up with Team Celtic who where busy working on their skills. I witnessed the determination on their faces and the even had the chance to speak a few moments with Team Captain Kelly.

*Reporter* - "Thanks for taking the time out to talk with me Kelly. How are you feeling about the Amazing Lace??
*Kelly* - " Well we're all feeling pretty confident. There are of course some nervous jitters being that this is a first for all of us but as you can see we've been working on our team skills and feel that this will benefit us greatly.
*Reporter* - " Now looking at the other competition i've noticed a lot of people have already started the Lace..... Do you feel you are at a disadvantage seeing how your team hasn't left the starting block already??
*Kelly* - " Definately not. You know seeing as how we ARE a new team we figured we'd be best to take it slow and get to know each others strengths and weaknesses are before we jump in.

DYEORAMA PAL STRIKES!!!

As you know I couldn't wait to find out who my dyeorama pal was I had to hunt her down! We've been chatting back and forth now the entire time and have been having lots of fun. Today however my package came! Now I've been counting the days since it left its destination, usually takes a week so I've been anticipating my yarn any day now..... *Not that I've been thinking about it much lol* Of course I had to pick it up at the post office in town because it wouldn't fit in the mail box...... leading to more suspense! FINALLY I get it and wooooweeeee goodies galore! Have a look!!!
Fabulous Yarn! The colourway is called Lorikeet! Its going to make some lovely summer socks!
THEN not one but TWO milky bars!!!! milky bar CHUNKY I might add that I've never had before. * Please excuse the bad hair and purple fuzzy jammies! It was almost bed time when I finally got home with the package!
Look at it all! Spoiled Rotten!! Candy coming out the ying yang, old fashioned lemon drops, gum, rock candy yummmm and awesome turquoise beads! And some great postcards too! Not only that but Anne also thought of Moose and sent him a package of chocolate and candy too! How sweet is that! Big thank you from Moose! He'll have that chocolate gone before I even open my milky bar lol
My Pal was Anne from Florida. She has been soooo totally awesome even though I bugged the heck out of her for weeks to find out who she was.
Anne I love my yarn and the whole package! Thank you for taking the time to create yarn especially for me and all the fabulous other things you sent!
An added bonus to doing Dyeorama is that I now have a new knitting friend that I wouldn't have met otherwise! :) You rock Anne!

As promised pictures from Monster trucks!

Here's me with Monster Patrol, this was the only actual real TRUCK body. They had the back lined with seats and charged $5 for a ride in it. They made an insane amount of money that day and they only went around half the arena twice! NUTS I SAY NUTS! *it looks like I'm holding a cigarette in that picture but let the record show that its mearly they light in front of the back wheel and I do not partake in that habit :) *
This was another ACTUAL truck that was just there for show and at the pit party. Pretty awesome paint job though!
And here is the wheelie round..... don't worry you didn't miss out on the other rounds because THEY ALL LOOKED LIKE THIS!!!
We had some time to kill between the pit party and the actual show so we went to Tim's for dinner. We chose the bar top table against the window because Moose likes to People watch. Its not a very good picture but I spyed a cute little pom wearing a knit sweater that I had to capture on camera! She was styling!

Lately it seems that every project I pick up has something frustrating me! Every project I have on the go right now is stopped dead in their tracks.
I am on the toe decrease for the second stripe sock and I of course RAN OUT OF YARN! Yup go figure if anything bad could happen it would happen to me! I'm stuck on the top of the foot on my Psock. I can't seem to get the pattern to work out so have asked for some help from a fellow Psocker. Dyeing............. I'm not even going to GO there at the minute. I wanted to start my Butterfly for the Amazing lace but don't have the beads DANG! I started Calum's cable sweater but its not something I really want to knit right now so its going pretty slow. I want to get another pair of socks on the go, the ones for Nanny but my two pairs of needles are occupied right now with those dang socks that I'm currently stuck on!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I think I need to haul down another building or something!

I'm sure your all wondering how Monster Trucks was. Well I could lie and say it was great yadda yadda but since I'm frustrated enough at the minute I may as well ramble on some more. If you don't want to hear me ramble feel free to skip to the next part :)
Well the trucks themselves were pretty cool. Moose was telling me before we went that they weren't actually trucks they were toys put together to look like trucks but I didn't really understand until I saw them. Its a giant mass of parts and on top is the shape of a truck shell but its made of fiberglass all one piece. Anyway seeing them at the pit party was pretty neat! I got some pics. Now the actual show was less than thrilling. The monster trucks did 3 events! The wheely contest, the race, and something else but to sum it all up in on go, the wheel the race and whatever else they did all LOOKED THE SAME. In every contest they all jumped over 3 cars and smushed them. Just forwards mind you. There was no going backwards or sideways just over and over again on top of these trucks. Oh yes and I remember the last competition was the free style.............. what was their free style you may ask????? Well jumping over 3 DANG TRUCKS OF COURSE! OH I was soooo ticked! Its a good thing the tickets were only 10 bucks cause I would have been demanding my money back. Now the show was NOT what I recall watching on tv AT ALL! Moose says the good ones are usually outdoors and the trucks are even bigger.
So in a nutshell the Monster trucks was a big FLOP! but at least I got to see them. I'm glad for that.
I'll post some pictures later on today from the show and have some other things to show you.

Chris guessed correctly! I'm going to see monster trucks! Now you all might think i'm kinda weird to be soooo excited about some Monster Trucks but its something I used to see advertised on t.v. all the time remember Bigfoot?? The biggest monster truck back then. Well anyway I couldn't pass it up when Nathan asked if I wanted to go seeing it was only $10. Do you need to ask???? OF COURSE I WANT TO GO!
I've been counting down the days and finally today is it! We even got Pit Passes so we could go down and look at all the trucks before the show! WOOOT WOOOT! I've got my camera and I'm ready to go :)
I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures for you tomorrow.

I've been pretty pumped for the last couple of weeks because this Saturday I'm going somewhere VERY EXCITING! * for me anyway* Somewhere I've always wanted to go but never got the chance to. I will need to bring with me what is pictured below as well as my camera. Can you guess where I'm going???

Here's the Post Demolition picture. Moose salvaged what he could and the rest we cooked in the fire. BURN BABY BURN! Let me tell you that fire was HOOOOT! I had to stand back quite a ways because the heat was craaaaaaazy!

If you will notice on my side bar, both *thats right folks* BOTH little star sweaters are complete! They are at the seamstresses now becoming beautiful garments for the twins :)
I'm hoping to finish my second stripe sock tonight or tomorrow and then cast on for a new project or two.

I don't know how the rest of you are doing with your Dyeing for Dyeorama but I have been having a BALL with my dyeorama pal.* She is on the giving end*
If you know me you know that I CAN NOT! side by idoly and not try figure out who my dye buddy is. It runs through my brain all day at work and while I'm knitting and trying to go to sleep. CONSTANTLY!
So I asked my dye buddy if she could give me a clue to who they were so I could try and figure it out. She has been giving me various clues and I thought I was on the right track until I discovered I was wayyyyy off course on the wrong side of the contenient. So once I got situated in the right area I got a few more clues and was still having troubles. This girl is good! I seriously felt like I was trying to solve the da vinci code. I'd be on here in the morning and at night trying to find something. Finally tonight I found her! Don't worry Laura I didn't look at my yarn :) I told her I didn't want to find her blog if it showed my yarn so she kindly linked all the pictures and let me on my merry way. Of course you'll all have to wait until my yarn arrives before I tell you who she is :) Thanks Dye Buddy that was sooo much fun!

Demolition

You never know what we are going to be up to next :)
We have an old barn in the yard that was housing our wood for the winter. We knew it probably wasn't going to last another winter as it had gaping holes in the side had some rotting boards and the tar paper blew off the roof in a storm. When Nathan went up on top to check the situation and see about getting more tar paper for the roof he said it wouldn't be long before the roof caved and neither of us wanted to be in there when that happened so the plan was tear it down.
And tear it down we did. Moose called in the Demolition team.

Today is Victoria Day in Canada and as the stores are closed that meant a day off for me. Just so happened Moose was off too. I spent all morning reading The Da Vinci Code. I want to see the movie but of course I wanted to finish the book first because as you know the book is always better than the movie. The movie came on on Friday and I was still only halfway through the book *I've only really been reading at work* So Moose said if I finished the book by tonight he'd take me to see it. GAME ON! So I finished the book at around 1:30 this afternoon and am off in an hour or so to go see it *bounce bounce* I can't wait!

I spent the rest of the day knitting. You'll NEVER guess what I was knitting. Remember the dreaded little star sweater #2?????? The one I forgot to put arm holes in?????? Yup well I finally caved and said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I need to get this sweater done before the kids are too old to wear them. So I ripped and knit my little heart out. Mister sweater thought he was still going to be stubborn but I showed him who's boss and barrelled on. The only thing left to do is the neck band which I can probably finish either tonight after the movie or tomorrow before I go to work. I told myself I'd have it finished before wednesday so I can take it to mum when I go visit. I also have great knitting plans for the rest of the week. I need to get striped sock #2 finished and a new pattern for nanny's socks started. She's coming in just over a month so I best get cracking! I also need to start Calum's cable sweater as he is now 3 months old. Oh the plans the plans! I just keep thinking after I get all that done I can start something for myself! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Random Happenings at Celtic!

Wednesday was my mum's birthday but because I was working and so was mum I decided I would head down to see her on thursday *my day off* and visit before she went to work. Of course it wouldn't be a birthday without CUPCAKES!!!! My fourty shades of green butter pecan cupcakes! I grated some dairy milk bar *one of mum's favs* and sprinkled it on top.

Here's a picture of me and my mum on my wedding day! One of my favourite pics! Doesn't she look fabbbbbbbbbulous! I've very close with my mum, and my dad for that matter. Mum as you have seen previously is the knitting extrodinare. I can't wait until they move down here so I can have a knitting buddy!
LOOKEY LOOKEY WHAT I MADE!!!!!!!!! My jewellery class paid off cause that night I came home and made these! I can actually do the loop now. I was sooo excited I was swirling them around on my needle and yelling to Sockies, "SOCKIES YOUR MUM IS A FRIGGIN GENIUS!!!!" hehe She was thrilled as you can imagine.

On the dyeing note I have completely washed my hands of the acid dying. It just isn't for me. I tried again last night and it went on alot better but it didn't matter how many times I microwaved it the dye just wouldn't set and started running out when I was rinsing it. So that's it! Wilton's it is. I have a little bit of yarn left to play with and my one good skein for my pal. Fingers crossed it all works out for me please!

Saturday Moose, moose's brother and I headed out for a day on the bikes. It was an awesome day out, sunshining and gorgeous blue sky. I was thinking yup another day on the bikes were I get to drive a bit and then sit on the back.......... then it hit me. THE GREEN MACHINE!! I totally forgot I had my own bike and would be cruising solo today yipeee!!!!!
I love love love my bike, its sooo peppy and turns on a dime. Moose and his bro's bikes are alot heavier and bigger than mine so when they get into a tight spot they have to reverse, backup and then put it in drive again BUT NOT THE GREEN MACHINE! He turns on a dime and away I go. I find it quite comical me whizzing away while they are still turning muhahaha
Anyway we went to the trails and found out how to get to St, Martins which is a little waterfront town thats a popular camping spot in the summer. We found a picnic table and stopped for a snack there before heding back on the trails again. This time we ended uo finding a stream and biked up that overall the slippery rocks. I got hung up on a few rocks a couple of times because I'm so low compared to the others but with some rocking I managed to get free. On the way back to the truck we swung by StoneyBrook lodge. Stoneybrook is a very popular place for snowmobilers and bikers as its right off the main trail. They have a restaurant, nice little pond area with paddle boat and cabins if you feel the need to stay overnight. Stoneybrook also has a great lookout spot called Wee Peak with great views of the surrounding areas. All in all it was a great day, and ride. Of course if you know anything about our 4 wheeler trips with Moose's brother you'd know that we never go on a trip without something bad happening. At least thats the trend since we got the bikes. So saturday's event was that when we got back to the truck and trailer someone had stolen our RAMPS!!! These are what we use to load the bikes on the truck and trailer. Of course everyone was ticked off after that. I just don't get stealers! Someone works hard to accumulate the money to buy something and they think they can just walk away with it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I've been getting quite a bit of knitting done in the past few days. I've turned the heel on the second stripe sock. Mostly I've been taking my projects in the truck and working on them during our travel time. Its weird though, I can't read in the car at all and before I couldn't knit either but now it doesn't seem to bother me. I can happily knit away and not get nausea! YAY for me!

Yesterday on our way to and from seeing Moose's mum I got another whole pattern repeat done and the heel started. It was fantastic to just knit travelling. Usually I'm thinking about when I'm going to beable to squeeze in a row or two when i get home.
Lastly I went to a beading class tonight at work and made this bracelet and earrings. Pretty dang impressed I was, and I'm finally getting the hang of the loop making. I'm excited for the next one.
Short post for tonight, I've got lots pics for you to see tomorrow though.

Long time no see!

Hello Hello! I know i've been MIA all this week but its been work and then coming home to work on a house project so there's just been no time to post. But here I am back at it, for a few minutes anyway :) We are going 4 wheeling today!! As you can see from the picture below *taken only moments ago* its perfect wheeling weather. I almost forgot that I get to take my OWN bike today..... was thinking I'd be sitting on the back of Moose's but NOOOOO the green machine is out and ready for action!
I'm sure by now you're all drooling at the picture below. The new best friend to my spring green sock yarn I dyed is none other than APPLETINI! *Yes yes I broke down and bought her.* I couldn't resist, when Scout mentioned she had two new skeins of her just waiting to be bought I new one would be coming to live with me. I kept thinking about Appletini alllll day before I finally caved and bought it :) Let me tell you Scout's yarn is every bit as yummy as it looks. It smells yummy, the colours are yummy and heck its going to be super yummy to knit with. I'm just waiting now until I see that perfect Appletini sock pattern so I can cast on.

I bought some Acid Dye's from work last week and thought I'd give acid dyeing a trying seeing how everyone's is turning out soooo fabulous. Well lets just say mine was NOT so fabulous! IT WAS HORRIFIC! I used 2 teaspooons of dye and mixed with 1 teaspoon of vinegar and some water and started painting. It all looked like it was going well but when I got up the next morning the colours were sooooo BLAH!!! All faded, and the yarn was hard and crusty?????? WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I DOING WRONG???? Moose said I had too much water for one but too much water wouldn't make it crusty! Good thing I just used a few strands of yarn to test it out. No one seems to know how much dye etc they use but if you can tell by what I used that I'm using too much or too little of something pllllllease tell me! I'd like to get this right. Then to make matters worse Appletini came the next day................ That oh so perfect yarn and perfect colours and perfect NON crusty yarn *sighs* Oh Scout if only I could dye like you!

Ok so we are finally done the house project we've currently been working on. Check it out!
This is our bedroom. I swear Lolly is following our paint pallet for Project Spectrum because EVERY room seems to fall into the right colour category! So for the bedroom we painted green. I don't remember the exact name of the chip but its perfect. The camera didn't do a very good job of capturing the colour but its brighter than what you see here. You also can't see the white trim, baseboard, door trim and windowsill..... well actually you can see a little bit of it in between the tall boy and the dresser in the first picture. The crown moulding ledge is from Pottery Barn, as well as my duvet cover. I looooooove Pottery Barn! I plan on actually lowering the Crown moulding a bit and adding some art to it but I haven't found the right thing yet. I also have a oil painting in the frame shop at work getting framed that will match the furniture. I also plan on getting some proper lamps and a few other odds and ends but hey a finished constructual room is a dang good start!

As for knitting news I've basically only been knitting in the truck on the way to different places so the second stripe sock is getting worked on but other than that I'm VERY behind. I need to get my butt in gear and pull out that second star sweater and finish it. Maybe on sunday while i'm watching Coronation Street.

Whats wet and green and smells like Vinegar???

Why its dyed yarn of course! Dyed with Wilton gel's leaf green. It now smells like koukaburra woolwash but the vinegar still lingers in the kitchen. Its a little blotchy but it was my first time with the wilton so I didn't want the colour coming out too dark. I'm happy with it and they are going to make some cute lace socks.
Another soon to be green project! I picked up a cat grass kit for Sockies last weekend and tonight we have 3 little blades growing!! See the one in the bottom left hand corner?? Hang on Sockies your grass is coming!

*Ummm mum??? You think HE'S funny??? HE'S GOT HIS HEAD IN A BAG FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!* Some of us will stoop to any level to get noticed! HUMPH!

I've been missing L at work the past few days. She's really sick. She got blood tests done with no results yet but they are pretty sure its something from when she was in Mexico :(
She's in alot of pain and can't keep anything down. Poor L I wish there was something I could do for her. Keep her in your thoughts!

Playing Catch up!

I have ohhh so much to blog about and don't know where to start! I'm finally having a minute to sit down and actually post something. I've been meaning to do it since sunday but just haven't had the time. First off Happy GREEN Month! I think this will be one of my favourite months so far considering I A have projects to do that are green and B I love the shades of greeen that are out and about these days! Oh sooo yummy!
Now before I start babbling go over to Harlots new post! At the very end of her post she has a picture that she took in Lexington. Well heck its only several hundred young people at Triangle Park participating in the NIGHT COMMUTE!!! YAY!!!!! That makes me oh so happy!!!! FYI I'm buying the movie and bracelet!!!! I hope you are too!
This whole night commute is really pulling on my heart strings and making me want to go visit my kids! I checked out flights to Uganda....... wooowwwwwwwwweeee!!! Thats alot of moola!
Then I check flights to Brazil which weren't as bad sooo we shall see. I might get to see one of them after all!
Anyway back to blogging!
L is home from Mexico and is sooooooo incredibly brown I can't believe it!!!! What a brat! I told her I could cat sit IN mexico but nooooooo!!!
She was however very nice in bringing me back a little something even after I told her to go enjoy herself and no worry about any of us! There are 4 of us girls that hang out together so she brought all 3 of us a little suede purse and neckace. Each necklace is different and the little purse will be perfect for summer when I don't want to carry around a big bag. She also pulled out a little Cat carved in some kind of polished stone for looking after Gizmo. Its soooo cute and Sockies just loved it! Rubbing her head on it the whole bit. Its going in my living room once I get my little box shelves up.

This is my first project for Green month! I joined the Pomatomas Along * no wonder Margene called them her P socks! How in the world do you pronounce that!!!!* I'm using my contest win from Amy Boogie that I've had for a while now. It is sooo fantastic and of course I was waiting for the perfect project and after falling in love with this pattern they were destined to be P socks!! So the yarn is Spunky Eclectic, colourway is unknown, it doesn't seem to match the others in her shop so I'm thinking maybe its a one off. I love the colours, in winding it up a found sooo many other little splashes of colour and different shades.
Sockies decided she was going to play with it last night while I was winding it up. I promptly reminded her that this was special Amy Boogie yarn and that she was to keep her paws to herself! A handspun delight that is not for cats! She then decided to punk me off and go back to sleep!

The best part of my weekend! And a complete fluke! I got my very OWN four wheeler!!!! This is a yamaha 250 a perfect sized bike for a little donkey! Moose's bike is a 450 and I find it hard for these little arms so steer so when Moose's old boss was selling this for a steal of a deal we couldn't pass it up. There have been only 5 tanks of gas through the green machine and its a 93. It fits perfectly on the back of the truck and then Moose's and his brothers can go on the trailer no problem so now we each have our own. YAYYYY!!! Perfect P.S. purchase to start the month!!

Invisible Children!

Tonight at 7pm all around the world Millions of people will be taking part in the Global Night Commute. These people will be commuting on foot to a large city and sleeping in in one designated place. Why you ask?
Every night in Uganda Millions of children have to endure this walk to another community and sleep with hundreds of other children in one place JUST to avoid being Kidnapped by the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) who kidnap the children and make them become part of this cult. This definately hits home for me. I have a sponsored child in Uganda. Although he is fortunate enough to be in a community away from the LRA and protected by World Vision there are still thousands out there just like him that live in fear everyday! I cannot even begin to imagine sending my children away every night and hoping that they will be safe and return in the morning. What a horrible way to live. The Global Commute is bringing awareness to this war that continues in Uganada and urges others to join the fight against it. We can all make a difference if we only speak out! Invisible Children has a store selling t-shirts, the dvd movie that started the invisible children movement. There are also bracelets available that you can purchase for a mere 19.99 that are named after a child that is enduring this and comes with a dvd telling their story. All the proceeds go towards Invisible Children and ultimately ENDING THIS WAR!!!
Know that you can and are making a difference in a childs life by sponsorship or by buying a simple bracelet from Invisible children! You are giving them HOPE in life and a chance at a future they might otherwise not have.
